00:02It was a successful tour of Zimbabwe for the West Indies women who won the ODI series 2-1
00:08and then swept the Africans 3-0 in the T20 internationals.
00:12Part of the Windy side was all-rounder Jozara Claxton who made an impact in the shorter of the two
00:17formats.
00:18Batting as an opener, she had scores of 31 not out, 4 and 38,
00:23plus she grabbed seven wickets and was named player of the series.
00:28My emotions are running really high, I'm really happy, excited that I was able to contribute to the team's success
00:35in any way possible.
00:36This was the first international series in which Claxton opened the batting.
00:40So what was going through her mind at that time?
00:44Yeah, definitely a bit nervous, but I was just trying to go out there and trying to execute
00:51and trust me skills and be able to hit boundaries and different stuff whenever the opportunity comes along.
00:59Despite the butterflies, the 20-year-old felt being promoted to open the batting was the best thing that could
01:04have happened to her
01:05and she ended up averaging 36.50 with a willow against the Zimbabweans.
01:10To be able to go out there and contribute with the bat for the team and to just learn even
01:17more in the middle
01:19because, you know, you learn more while batting in the middle.
01:22So it was just really great for me and I'm happy that I got the opportunity to do that.
01:26According to Claxton, family support also plays an important part in her life.
01:31For sure, my mum is extremely proud.
01:34She's probably crying right now because she loves crying whenever I do good,
01:37but I'm just happy that I have the support that I have from them.
01:41Claxton has so far played 12 ODIs and 22 T20 internationals for the West Indies.
01:47We know that one of the teams export.
