Foot Technique: Description

00:00Welcome to lesson number 7. Klaus Hessler here talking to you on pedal technique and in this lesson we will
00:08be elaborating further on the ostinato rhythm consisting of one loud and one soft stroke but this time based on
00:16a different rhythmic grid.
00:18In the last lesson we were working on 8th note rhythm, this time it's 8th note triplets and we will
00:28be playing the ostinato rhythm again from both of your feet, right bass drum, left hi-hat and first of
00:36all looking into the exercises A through P along with the ostinato rhythm from the other limb and then also
00:47again looking
00:48into a reading text which you're interpreting against the ostinato rhythm.
00:57Well, let's look into the first exercise which is again basses and letter A.
01:06So we'll be starting with the left foot again and if this is the tempo, let's not take it too
01:18fast, basses with a repeat and letter A with a repeat sounds like this.
01:25One, two, three, four.
01:55Letter A, a little bit of letter B which is slightly unfair because it elaborates on the second position of
02:04the triplets which nobody really likes but it's really helpful to acquire more co-ordinative, say, facility.
02:15So here we go with basses and letter B.
02:54B, now a little bit of C working on the third position of the triplet.
02:59One, two, three, four.
03:02One, two, three, four.
03:30So just as before you would work your way through all of the different exercises from A to P but
03:38once you've understood all the downbeat and the different offbeat positions of course,
03:46you'd be in the position to play a reading text against the ostinato rhythm.
03:51So let's do a little bit of that, maybe just a couple of lines from the reading text along with
04:00the ostinato from the left foot.
04:01I'm playing two bars of four-four time in front before I'm starting the reading text.
04:08One, two, three, four.
04:10One.
04:11One's the bear Bradley.
04:12One, two, three, four.
04:16One.
04:17spaces we change bandwagon.
04:18One.
04:23Eight.
04:23And, two.
04:39One.
04:40One.
04:40Two.
05:08Gracias por ver el video.
05:38Gracias por ver el video.
05:57Gracias por ver el video.
06:00Gracias por ver el video.
06:04Gracias por ver el video.
