00:02Workers of the Awami League held a demonstration on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the UN
00:07Human Rights Council, raising concerns over alleged political repression and human rights
00:12violations in Bangladesh. Former Bangladesh Foreign Minister and Awami League Joint General
00:19Secretary Dr. Mohamed Hassan Mahmood alleged that Pakistan's ISI was involved in the political
00:24development surrounding Bangladesh's August 2024 government change, he also raised alarm over the
00:30human rights violation in Bangladesh. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also virtually addressed
00:41the gathering, speaking about the political situation and the treatment of Awami League
00:46leaders and supporters.
00:50There is increasing ties, we see, the previous interim government, so-called interim government,
00:56and the present BNP-led government, increasing the ties with Pakistan. And there is, there
01:02is all the sign that behind the change in 2044, on 5th August, there was the hand of Pakistan,
01:10Pakistan's intelligence agency. There must be a national reconciliation. These politics
01:16of hatred, politics of denial, and politics of confrontation must be ended. And the repression
01:23on Awami League, Awami League workers and supporters should be ended. And the ban on the activities
01:28on Awami League should be lifted immediately. There is no freedom of speech, there is no rights
01:34for the religious minorities, there is highest level of repression on the religious minorities,
01:40namely Hindus, Christian and Buddhists. And the temple of Hindu community have been burned,
01:48have been demolished, also Christian church, and also Buddhist temple. And also hundreds
01:54of houses of Hindu community have been burned and demolished over the last two years' time
02:00in Bangladesh. What is going on? More than 200 Bangladesh Awami League leaders and workers
02:06have been killed in the custody because of the malhandling, lack of treatment and torture.
02:12More than 200 have been killed. And in Bangladesh, there is highest level of repression on the media
02:19and the journalist community. Dozens of senior journalists are in jail now. And they are not granted bail.
02:28I just want to mention one example. Simmoy Prabhu, a Hindu priest, he was arrested about two years ago.
02:36He is not a political person. He does not have any political color. He was just arrested because
02:42he was opposing, even protesting, repression on the Hindu community and other religious communities,
02:49religious minorities. Because of that, only because of that, he has been arrested.
02:58Thanks for listening to this.
02:59Bye.
02:59Bye.
02:59Bye.
