00:01Kenya is not in the grips of an Ebola outbreak.
00:05This is what the country's health secretary insisted on Wednesday
00:09in the wake of the country's first death from the disease.
00:14There is no Ebola outbreak in Kenya.
00:19What we have is an important incident, an Ebola incident in our country.
00:26And we can account for the journey, the powerful journey of that disease.
00:33From Guri to Kisangani to Beni to Kinshasa to Kampala to Nairobi
00:45and finally to Nairobi Hospital.
00:50In a bid to reassure the public, the health secretary added that endeavours
00:55to trace all contacts of the victim have been stepped up.
01:01Of the initial 55 identified contacts,
01:07additional two have been added, bringing the total of contacts to 57.
01:16Ten of them have been accounted for and they are already under a quarantine facility.
01:25They are undergoing daily symptoms monitoring at the National Police Service Hospital in Nairobi.
01:37Efforts to trace the remaining contacts have been intensified.
01:41His comments came a day after a Kenyan citizen who had been living in Congo returned over the weekend
01:47became the first confirmed case of the disease.
01:50In the DRC, an outbreak was declared in May,
01:53months after it had been spreading in an isolated part of eastern Congo.
01:57I'm going to run the window for the 39th of this weekend.
01:57We have to turn right up.
01:59I will go over to the next one.
01:59So, that was a big deal.
