00:08It kind of seemed like a mutual parting of ways. And this Lakers team is now a Luka Doncic team.
00:15It is now built around him. It has Austin Reeves there next to him. They got Walker Kessler there. Center
00:22of the future.
00:22And after preseason game one, which they played recently, and they're playing the Warriors in preseason game two, none of
00:28those guys are playing. But I want to focus on the first one. A lot of people are saying, well,
00:32man, this team, they look so incredible. They look awesome. They are connected. They're moving the ball. They're young. They're
00:39spry. And as much as I'm high on the Lakers, like I am way higher on the Lakers than a
00:45lot of people, I have to make sure that people understand how bad the Kings are going to be this
00:51year.
00:51I love Darius Acup Jr. He looks great, by the way. He looks great. He looks great. But the Lakers
00:57were playing the Kings in preseason. And people, as Yankee fans do, and by the way, John, I have to
01:04say this. I know we're going back to baseball. I had a fan of the show, actually. He DM'd me
01:10on Twitter. He goes, hey, big fan of the show. I wanted to talk about your point about the Yankees.
01:17And he says, I'm from New York. I've been a Yankees fan my whole life. And what you said about
01:22us being delusional and thinking we're going to the World Series, that's not true. We hate this team.
01:28Oh, wow.
01:29We want to blow everything up. Over here on the East Coast, he said maybe it's the West Coast people
01:34that think that way. But over here on the East Coast, we want everything to change.
01:38Like, I love the show, by the way. He kept saying that. And I'm going to get his name for
01:43everybody so that you guys can understand who I'm talking about.
01:46Because I said I would shout him out on the show.
01:48But he reached out to Patrick Kelleher, if I'm saying that right.
01:52Shout out, Patrick.
01:53Shout out, Patrick. He's a fan of the show.
01:56But he was saying that the Yankees should blow everything up.
01:59That they should change the GM and the manager and get rid of Aaron Boone and get rid of all
02:04these guys that they have on the roster and start new.
02:08And the reason I'm bringing up the Yankees is because the Laker fans and the Yankee fans and the Cowboys
02:13fans, they're all...
02:14They go hand in hand.
02:15They're all like one good game, whether it's a preseason, whether it's spring training.
02:19It's like, uh-oh.
02:20And I feel like that's where Lakers fans are at right now. They're on that meter.
02:24Those three franchises are like socks in the bin.
02:27Like, they might be a little different, but you've got to wear them all at the same time.
02:32That's the thing. And that's where Laker fans are at right now.
02:35They're in the phase of... They're in the honeymoon phase.
02:38They're like, oh, my God. Did you see... Oh, did you see Jake LaRavia?
02:41Oh, Ronnie James dove for a loose ball.

02:48Here's the thing about the Lakers.
02:50Whenever LeBron leaves a team, it either collapses or the first two months of the season, everybody gets an opportunity
02:59to kind of exhale.
03:00And I think that's what you're going to see from this team to start because they have to show people...
03:05Again, Luka's a transcendent star.
03:07So they've got to show people, we're all right.
03:11We got this. We made these moves because we have Luka.
03:14We don't have to get caught up in the LeBron.
03:16I'm taking a helicopter. I'm living in a completely different city than the rest of you bozos.
03:22You don't have to deal with that anymore.
03:24But what you do have to understand is Luka is a star on all his own.
03:29And so just like everybody got slack when they didn't win because it wasn't ever LeBron's fault,
03:34that just transfers over to... It's not Luka's fault.
03:37It's going to be y'all's fault.
03:38And so the honeymoon phase is thickening it right now.
03:42And yeah, they look great against the Sacramento Kings because they should look great against the Sacramento Kings.
03:46Correction. They better look great against the Sacramento Kings.
03:49But at the end of the day, when you really start running this thing night in and night out,
03:54two games in three nights and four games in eight days, it's going to look different
04:02because they still don't have any athleticism.
04:04They still have to learn how to play defense together.
04:09And so as much as these signs are encouraging, if you are a Laker fan,
04:12you are not... You're not buying the fake gold yet.
04:17I'm buying the fake gold. I think this team's going to be really good.
04:19You better not.
04:20I am. I think this team's going to be really good.
04:22Now, I think there's no doubt about it that a lot of people, including you, John,
04:27we said this when he was drafted, that Cameron Carr is going to be the truth.
04:30Like, he's going to be so awesome.
04:31He had 19 points on seven three-point attempts in their first preseason game.
04:36I mean, this kid, it's not the fact that he's talented.
04:39Like, we know that he's talented.
04:40It's the fact that his confidence and the way he plays and his demeanor is just...
04:45I feel like at the NBA level already.
04:47And that doesn't mean that he's not going to develop and he has things to work on,
04:50but he looks great.
04:52This is the perfect level for a player like that.
04:55You can now put this kid on this team, look him square in the face and say,
04:58bro, you're never going to shoot the ball.
05:01And he's going to say, cool, I don't care.
05:03I get to play.
05:05Hey, let's go.
05:06He's going to defend your best player.
05:08He's going to catch lobs.
05:10He's going to catch rebound dunks.
05:12He's going to be a highlight play in the open court every single time.
05:17On the fast break, this guy will deliver for the fans.
05:21The difference between what he can do and what they've had in that position in the past
05:26is this guy's an extreme A-plus athlete.
05:28So when he's defending your best player and he's down on offense,
05:32standing in a corner or standing in a dunker spot,
05:35basically getting the rest to go down and play defense again,
05:37these are the type of players you need around Luka.
