00:00Knock, knock. Wait a minute. What happened here?
00:03You maybe know the Polestar 4.
00:06This famous Coupé, which has no rear glass window.
00:11It's just closed like here. It was a big discussion.
00:14And this is also the Polestar 4, but it is the Polestar 4 SUV.
00:18And they have given it now a rear glass window,
00:23as you used to, and made it in a more SUV style here.
00:27And this is why this car is now called the Polestar 4 SUV.
00:33And here on Autografu with Thomas,
00:35we're going through all the details, exterior, interior.
00:39What is the difference between the Coupé and the SUV?
00:42And also difference Polestar 3,
00:45the little bit bigger brother to the Polestar 4 SUV.
00:49Here now, everything of that.
00:51Now with me on Autografu in 4K, full screen, full length.
00:54Let's go with the Polestar 4 SUV.
00:57In the front, by the way here, this Aurora color.
01:01Very beautiful color.
01:02And in the front, sleek look.
01:04Especially cool when the, not only the daytime running light,
01:08but also the indicator or the hazard lights are on.
01:11That looks really striking indeed.
01:13Also sleek look.
01:14It doesn't so much look like EV, I would say.
01:17Just let's say normal car design.
01:19And I think that's also a good choice.
01:21Let's directly check out if there is a frunk or not.
01:26Here, by the way, you see that we have frameless doors or windows.
01:30They're pretty thick.
01:31No lamination, but very thick in the glass.
01:34Also good door closing sound.
01:36And then here, we obviously do have a small frunk.
01:40It's not too large, but maybe...
01:41Oh, tiny frunk, baby.
01:44But maybe like for a small charging cable.
01:46Still, they use some dampening underneath.
01:49You might ask yourself,
01:50wait a minute, why do manufacturers do that?
01:52Because there's no engine and so on with the electric vehicles.
01:55Yeah, but still, you know, like from the rolling noise,
01:57from the tires and so on,
01:58there can be noise then coming from here then to the cabin.
02:01And so it's still good to have some dampening there underneath.
02:04And then you can also see that we are here in this premium segment.
02:09If you are already asking yourself, by the way,
02:11wait a minute, if this is now the SUV
02:13and recently the Polestar 3 was updated,
02:16why wouldn't we go for the Polestar 3?
02:18Different price regions and a little bit different length.
02:21Soon more to that.
02:23By the way, the first specification overlook,
02:26we have just happened to have a monitor here.
02:28I can't really read it from where I'm standing.
02:31But if you want like to have this, you know,
02:33nice text, text sheet overview,
02:36you can also now pause this video for a second
02:39and check out some of the figures.
02:41But of course, there are more details to these figures here.
02:46For example, also gross or net battery size.
02:48Soon more to that as well.
02:49The length here is 4 meters 84 or 191 inches.
02:54That's 6 centimeters or 2 inches shorter than the Polestar 3,
02:59which we recently have shown to you.
03:01And it's the same length like the Polestar 4 Coupe,
03:04just that the roof right here is different,
03:07more upright, not falling.
03:09And we have the glass.
03:11Then here we have the 22-inch wheels.
03:13It would start at 20-inch.
03:14But these are 22 because we have the performance pack here
03:18on this car that you can see.
03:19We have also the Brembo Performance Brake
03:22in this contrasting scheme.
03:25The normal base suspension would be a normal steel suspension.
03:29And then optionally, you can also go for the performance pack.
03:33And then you get an adaptive suspension delivered by ZF.
03:37It's the only way you can get an adaptive suspension for this vehicle.
03:40And you would start with rear-wheel drive versions as an entry.
03:43This one has an acceleration figure of,
03:46as you've probably just seen there on the monitor, 7.3 seconds.
03:51And if you go for the overdrive,
03:52additional motor on the front axle,
03:54then you're at 3.9 seconds.
03:56So a little bit slower in the acceleration
03:58in comparison to the Coupe.
04:00Top speed here, by the way, is higher than with Volvo.
04:03Here at 200 kilometers an hour, 125 miles an hour.
04:06And now the biggest change here is indeed,
04:08you have the window now.
04:09Some complained with the Polestar 4 Coupe
04:11that it's maybe too unusual.
04:14And it's not only that you can look through for real,
04:18you still have the possibility to have the digital mirror
04:21that you can see, you know, with the camera to the rear.
04:23That's still possible.
04:24But the main difference, of course,
04:26that you have a little bit more luggage flexibility.
04:29The lights repair goes through.
04:30Very modern and sleek look.
04:32And it's also actually quite practical
04:35that we have the big button here
04:36to open the trunk area.
04:39And today, we also have this luggage set here.
04:42And this is also the difference.
04:45So this way, you could not have stored in the Coupe.
04:49So below the cover, like here, you only gain 30 liters.
04:53But if you load up to the roof right here,
04:57then you gain 130 liters surplus in comparison to the Coupe.
05:03And that's, yeah, the more usable thing.
05:04By the way, a very interesting detail.
05:06Look at that.
05:07I'm not sure if I've ever actually seen that.
05:10This part is usually hard black plastic.
05:13But they have covered it here in felt.
05:15That's a good point.
05:17Yeah.
05:18That's also a good point.
05:20When you hit your head here.
05:22And this maybe also increased sound deadening a little bit more as well.
05:27So that's nice.
05:28Yeah.
05:28I really appreciate this detail here.
05:31And also here at the side and so on.
05:33And here in the lower part.
05:35That looks really like good build quality.
05:36You will, of course, make a detailed interior look for you very soon.
05:40And later, the measurements of the trunk are also to come.
05:44If you're really looking into buying this vehicle,
05:47then of course, the trunk measurements are also very important here for you.
05:50Let's check out the interior because cockpit and so on is also very important.
05:55First of all, the battery specs.
05:57You've maybe read at the side of the car and also at this tech spec sheet
06:01that 100 kilowatt hours is the battery capacity.
06:05That's the gross figure.
06:07The net usable figure, however, is 94 kilowatt hours.
06:11So they use a buffer of about 6 kilowatt hours between the net and the gross figure.
06:1710 to 80 percent state of charge.
06:19The charging in 30 minutes.
06:21This is an electric charging flap here.
06:24AC 11 or optional 22 kilowatts and DC charging up to 200 kilowatt.
06:29And yes, you heard it correctly here by the way, the closing button.
06:32This is still on a 400 volt architecture for now at least.
06:37And that's why the charging figure is also not that impressive.
06:40And then you might ask yourself, yeah, wait a minute.
06:42If the Polestar 3 is just 10 centimeters longer and that one was updated to
06:47800 volt and charges quicker now.
06:49Why should I still pick the Polestar 4?
06:52Basically, there are two reasons.
06:54First of all, this has more, let's say, a little bit sportier, sleek design.
06:57It's a little bit shorter if you need it for parking.
07:00But the main difference is also the pricing.
07:02Because this one is positioned way differently.
07:04So this is about 20,000 euros less in the price.
07:09Pricing here for this one starts in Germany under 60,000 euros.
07:12And goes up if you go like all-wheel drive, performance pack,
07:16like it stands right here, close to 80,000 euros.
07:19Whereas the Polestar 3 would be like 80 to 100 plus something like that.
07:24So this is then the main price difference.
07:26Very beautiful that we have these frameless side mirrors.
07:30That basically the frame is the mirror itself already.
07:33That you don't have like a big bezel at the side.
07:36Polestar and Volvo have introduced that.
07:37It's really beautiful scheme.
07:38Here you can see the door handles.
07:40They come out and then they are actually manual.
07:44I'm more a fan of always standing out ones.
07:47Designers love it when it's flush integrated.
07:49But they will disappear bit by bit, definitely.
07:52Because the Chinese market is disallowing these flush door handles.
07:56And then as I said earlier, you have good door closing sound.
07:59Although these are frameless doors.
08:02And that is actually a very rare thing to have.
08:04So yeah, nice.
08:06And then yeah, the windows are pretty thick.
08:08That's cool.
08:09And inside of the doors, we have here soft touch on the top part.
08:13This is a fabric insert then here.
08:15You have, of course, different color schemes.
08:17Beautiful.
08:17Also this metal galvanizing here for the window levers.
08:20And this would be the release,
08:22which is also at the same time a manual release then to get out.
08:26In the lower part, oh, look at that.
08:28This is not hard black plastic.
08:30This is even covered.
08:32You know, even this one is really soft here.
08:36And the inside part here is maybe not the softest,
08:39but still is very nicely done.
08:41Also then with rubber on the ground.
08:44So this is a better build quality than we've recently seen with most cars actually.
08:48Optional Harman Kardon sound system.
08:49You, of course, have some packages like a Plus and the Prime package.
08:53And then you also have that included.
08:54Now to the cockpit here of the Polestar 4 SUV.
08:58So first of all, we have this glass roof that spins all the way across the vehicle.
09:03Then with 189, 642, there's still enough headroom left.
09:06No problem.
09:06The seating position.
09:07This is also a difference to the Polestar 3
09:10because the Polestar 3 is the more upright SUV.
09:12So you sit more like this, so to speak.
09:15Here you sit a little bit more in the car.
09:17You have indeed more a coupe feeling,
09:19although it's called SUV now because of the rear.
09:22That means also when you have long legs,
09:24you see that the knees just stand higher
09:26because the floor of the car is also higher.
09:30At some point, you gotta put the battery somewhere under the floor,
09:33you know, and then the floor itself moves up.
09:36So I sit better from the ergonomics in the Polestar 3.
09:40That is definitely to mention because this is a little bit lower,
09:43but then you have this, let's say, sportier driving position.
09:46The seat always looks sporty here with this integrated head restraint style.
09:50You would start with the base fabric seat called Tailored Knit.
09:54Then you have a full leatherette available,
09:57which is also with sustainable materials, for example.
10:00So Polestar is paying attention to that.
10:01This one is the optional animal skin pack.
10:04The material is not softer, rather harder than the leatherette,
10:09I have to say.
10:09The only thing which is a bad choice, I feel,
10:13is that they combine the option to have a seat cooling
10:16with getting the animal skin option.
10:18And that's not how it's done, you know.
10:20You have to show the customers,
10:21hey, we have the new materials
10:23and you can get the same luxury features.
10:25That's how most manufacturers do it.
10:27Meanwhile, Polestar, sadly not, with the steering wheel.
10:31This is a good example, again, how it's done
10:33because I even had to ask myself
10:36and also the product manager three times,
10:38is this not animal skin?
10:40It looks like it, it feels like it,
10:42but it's actually leatherette in all trims.
10:44So yeah, this is a good example of how it's done.
10:47Also, what's good that meanwhile,
10:49in comparison to the very early versions of the Polestar 4,
10:51we have here upgraded steering wheel
10:54with now physical dials.
10:57And you don't have like these capacitive touch things.
11:00This is also customer feedback.
11:01You have real dials, cruise control left, right side.
11:04You can increase the volume, decrease the volume,
11:06and also go through the menu here
11:09and the digital instruments and so on.
11:11And this really gives you a good feedback.
11:14So appreciate to have this now.
11:16To change the steering wheel up and down, in and out,
11:19you have to go to the menu
11:20and then do it with the buttons right here.
11:22Gear change are here, up and down,
11:25and the instruments are not placed on the steering wheel
11:28like with Polestar 3, but they're integrated right there.
11:30And I do appreciate they're a little bit far away
11:32and they also don't move together with that.
11:36But basic info here,
11:38and you can also get a head-up display here.
11:39It's also the box integrated right there.
11:41It's an interesting fabric material, by the way,
11:44here on top of the dashboard.
11:45So everything then is covered.
11:47Harman Kallen Sound System is an option, as I said.
11:49Fabric here.
11:50So you have basically no hard black plastic here
11:54in this interior.
11:54And also, hardly any high gloss black.
11:58A little bit on the steering wheel.
11:59Well, around the screen, a little bit this bezel here,
12:02but that's fine.
12:03Looks still good.
12:04But then especially this middle part here,
12:06everything soft touch,
12:08no high gloss black and so on.
12:10If you have the performance pack,
12:11then you also have this bigger
12:13orange-yellow-ish ring around
12:15for the play-pause button.
12:16And here also, nice turning sound
12:20of this volume jog.
12:21Inductive charging pad is there in the front.
12:24Doesn't seem to be ventilated though.
12:26And then you can slide this one open.
12:28Nice aluminum look.
12:30Cup holders, four-dot adaptive design.
12:32That's good.
12:32Big enough.
12:33Yet at the same time, they hold them tight.
12:35Then soft for your elbow.
12:37Could maybe be a little bit softer.
12:39Underneath, two USB-C charters,
12:40a little bit of space.
12:41And underneath is the biggest space area
12:44right here, there,
12:45where you can put some more clutter
12:47as for that one.
12:48So to be optimized,
12:51yeah, maybe a physical climate unit.
12:53I would appreciate that.
12:55Seating could be a little bit more upright,
12:57but maybe you can also put the seat higher
12:58a little bit.
12:59You have some space left.
13:01Yeah, these are my main points,
13:03especially like when you have long legs and so on.
13:05But the build quality is really astonishing.
13:08And I feel when you look at the middle console here
13:10and at the inside of the doors and so on,
13:12that the build quality is actually better
13:15than with the more expensive Polestar 3.
13:18That is astonishing, right?
13:19In the screen, by the way,
13:21at least you can directly access the climate unit.
13:23So it's not the two-step design
13:25as we have sometimes seen from Volvo and Polestar.
13:28So you can directly see here plus minus.
13:30That's easy.
13:31And here you can also then access
13:33steam reheating, seat heating,
13:35the seat cooling.
13:36Yeah, I would wish for the leather red seat
13:38with the seat cooling combination.
13:40They should offer that definitely.
13:42Actually, quite good overview.
13:43The screen and everything works quicker now.
13:46And important that they have the native Google Maps support
13:49because they have the whole system done by Google.
13:52They can see you can have the maps all over the screen.
13:56And yeah, although we are in the satellite view,
13:59it reacts very quickly.
14:01And that is, of course, very well appreciated.
14:03The charging stop recalculation and so on
14:06also then works via the screen.
14:08I can now look to the rear mirror
14:11and see light behind me,
14:13even though the window is small.
14:15But they can still switch it to the camera view.
14:17In this case, you only see white background in the studio.
14:21But if you load everything up to the roof,
14:24then you would still have this camera possibility.
14:27Then the rear seats here inside of the doors,
14:29everything is covered here as well.
14:31So that's astonishing from the build quality.
14:34There is no hard part.
14:36Even here, the lower part of the doors,
14:38once again in the rear doors,
14:39that is the most astonishing thing for me today.
14:42Isofix on the outside of the seats.
14:46Head restraints are also nice from the form and so on.
14:49But yeah, the platform here is not too high,
14:52as I explained in the front.
14:54In the rear, it's even more obvious.
14:55You can see here the angle of my knees.
14:56So if you're tall,
14:58legroom-wise is no problem here.
14:59You still have a lot of legroom.
15:01Yeah, it's also a long car.
15:02But then again, your feet are relatively high,
15:04and then you sit a little bit weird.
15:07With a headroom,
15:08there's actually no problem here with 1A9 642.
15:10It's more like this leg problem
15:12if you have really, really long legs.
15:14But the build quality is really,
15:15once again, outstanding.
15:17Then some more luxury features,
15:18like you have even here
15:20an old climate unit in the rear
15:22with seat heating, for example, as well.
15:25Two USB-C chargers,
15:26even with 60-watt output.
15:29And you can put this one here down.
15:32Then there we go.
15:33You have an additional armrest here.
15:38And yeah, this is the other luxury feature
15:41that you have here, these buttons.
15:42You can also see them right here.
15:44This is then for the inclination of the seat.
15:46And you can either make this rather cargo position,
15:50more upright,
15:51or you can make a relaxed position here.
15:53I'm pressing them both at the same time here.
15:55Then you have a little bit more backward,
15:58and you can relax a little bit more like this.
16:00In the front here, there we go.
16:03We also have some additional cup holders.
16:05Now the trunk measurements
16:06and some interesting details.
16:08So first of all,
16:09we have all the suitcases out.
16:11And then this one here,
16:12you can either lift up for more space underneath here
16:14in this area,
16:15or you can also directly put it in the lower area.
16:19And then you also have additional height.
16:21Then up to 29 inches or 73 centimeters.
16:25The normal length of the trunk is at 39 inches or 98 centimeters.
16:30And here you can see the difference.
16:32Length backward,
16:34and this is more cargo position in here of the seat
16:37where it's a little bit more forward.
16:39And then the width here is,
16:42this is astonishing.
16:43This is like 1 meter,
16:4410, 43 inches here.
16:45So it's not only standard 1 meter,
16:4840 inches measurement,
16:49but even a little bit longer.
16:51So that's cool.
16:51And then to fold the seat,
16:53there is no remote unlock here.
16:55So you have to go like this.
16:57And then the total length here,
16:59from the front seat to here,
17:01we are at 73 inches or 1 meters 85.
17:05What rear-world range can we expect?
17:08Roughly 500 kilometers, 300 miles.
17:11Of course,
17:11always depends on the condition and the situation.
17:14And if you'd like,
17:15we can do a driving test for you here very soon
17:17with the Polestar 4 SUV.
17:20Looking forward to your comment.
17:21And if you like this one better than the Cope,
17:23I think it's a good choice because this closed,
17:27no window concept of the Cope limits the customer group.
17:30This one then has a wider customer group.
17:32Yes.
17:33I like with the Polestar 3 that we have the 800 volt charging now
17:36with the recent upgrade.
17:38However,
17:38this one then will be lower in the pricing.
17:40And that's why it's also attractive.
17:41And I gotta say that from like build quality detail-wise,
17:45this one was actually even better.
