00:00after watching the Yankees play baseball last night, which might have been the most
00:04embarrassing thing I've seen in a very long time. The Yankees set not one, but two records last
00:10night, Craig. Number one, tied for the single worst four errors total, which could have been
00:17seven in that game. All-time record for the New York Yankees in a postseason, but they have never
00:24had three errors in one inning in the history of the Yankees organization in one inning. And they
00:31got it in the first inning. And I still don't know how it was only one nothing after the first
00:36inning
00:37last night. But once again, 2024 Dodgers World Series postseason last year, the Yankees have not
00:45addressed any of their defensive and fundamental issues, have they? No, they haven't. And
00:55I'm just getting the game on for myself here, finally, after all this time. I can't sit here
00:59and have you watch the game and not me. So I got it on. No, no, that's all right. You
01:02got it. I want
01:03to make sure I got it on. So look, I think all of those things are fair. But in watching
01:11the game
01:11pretty much from start to finish at the end, what was my takeaway from it was, yes, those things are
01:17bad. Yes, the fundamentals did not show up. Yes, it's fair to rip all the defensive issues that they
01:24had throughout the game. But the bottom line is, in the end, it would have made no difference in the
01:29outcome because they can't score. That was my takeaway. They would not have scored enough runs
01:36to beat the Tampa Bay Rays in that game. It doesn't mean that you can't be critical of it and
01:41say it
01:41stinks because it absolutely stunk. But until the Yankees start putting two runs up consistently in the
01:47first five innings of games, they're going to go home. And look, they could certainly go back to
01:52the Bronx and win a game, maybe even two, maybe even come back and win. You never know. Stranger
01:56things have happened. But Joe, it's the fundamental issue that they've had. When they've been knocked
02:00out of the postseason, it's always been because they're getting shut out or they're scoring one
02:04run. And the same thing reared its head last night. So let me ask you, the definition of insanity,
02:11doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. And that's exactly what I consider
02:21to be the New York Yankees. Because listen, I don't need you to score 19 runs. But I need to
02:27give you a
02:28chance to win the game. You can't do that if you're kicking the ball around and committing errors. And we're
02:35not talking about difficult plays here, right? We're talking about fundamental routine baseball
02:40that just went completely off the rails with your ace pitcher on the mound last night. No excuse for
02:47it. And you know, the thing that drives me crazy the most, Craig, is that we are watching a guy
02:52in
02:53pinstripes have maybe one of the greatest postseasons at the plate we have seen in a long time for the
02:59Yankees. And nobody is ever going to remember it, Craig, ever. No, Ben Rice has been great. And
03:05it's a shame, but it's just the reality of where they are. He's the only one that's hitting right
03:11now. I don't know if that would have changed with Judge or maybe a healthy Stanton. I wouldn't even
03:15pitch to him if I'm Tampa. I mean, he's the only one going. He's the only one going right now.
03:21I mean,
03:21if I remember correctly, when the Yankees in the last, let's say, 10 years, they had one great
03:26postseason run. And that's when they played the Dodgers a couple of years ago in the World Series.
03:31And during that, it felt like Giancarlo Stanton maybe had his best run of games as a member of
03:36the New York Yankees, too. But that's it. But beyond that, they just have not, to me, hit enough.
03:44And then again, I'm not downplaying anything that you're saying. I mean, all of it is true.
03:47But if the Yankees didn't make an error in the game yesterday, I think they would have lost anyway.
03:52You know, so they got, but they would have had a shot. This would be 2-1 or 3-1.
03:57But they have got
03:58to, you know, there's the firing and this and that. They've just got to reconfigure the roster
04:04eventually like that. And yes, that's part of Brian Cashman's job. Yes. But it's like, you know,
04:09Bellinger is all or nothing. And, you know, I mean, it's just, there's a lot, there's a lot of guys
04:14that are just like that. I'm not saying they need Luis Arias like to lead off. No, I'm not saying
04:18that.
04:18I'm just saying you need a couple of guys that are going to hit the ball in the gap every
04:23once
04:23in a while and drive in a run, not wait for the two or three run home run. And until
04:28they change
04:28the roster configuration like that, and it just seems like every guy, it seems like every season
04:33the Yankees get somebody, it's a lefty, and they go, oh my gosh, that guy's going to have a great
04:37season because of the short porch. And then they get to the postseason and the porch could be at
04:41second base. They still don't hit it. It doesn't make a difference. Yeah. But in the meantime,
04:46they'll make three errors like jazz and act like everything is all good to go with his 200,
04:51you know, his 220 hours. Like, give me a break. It's just, it's the same thing. I got great jazz
04:57stories. I got great. I'm just saying that was, and that was quintessential jazz last night in the
05:04first inning, giving up that run there because I don't know what he was doing in any way, shape,
05:09or form, but it looks like the Yankees are playing shortstop for the Braves because they've
05:14already booted one here in the top of the first inning.
