00:28I'll see you next time
00:54You are a human being, you are bound to have some problem or the other in your life.
00:59At some time or the other and what one needs to do is not to give up.
01:06That's what the teachers need to know, that's what the students need to know.
01:10That is what makes teaching such a remarkable profession.
01:14In many professions you can see the result of your work immediately.
01:18A doctor treats a patient and sees the recovery.
01:22But a teacher may have to wait years, sometimes decades, to see the full impact of his or her work.
01:30You may teach a student today, but years later the student may return to the campus and say,
01:38Sir, Madam, do you remember me?
01:41Perhaps they will add, you believed in me when I did not believe in myself.
01:48I cannot think of many rewards greater than that.
01:52Dr. Rambetka did not see education merely as a qualification.
01:56He understood education as a force for empowerment, dignity, independence and social transformation.
02:06He famously said, cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence, which is so very true.
02:16Every single day we need to cultivate our mind, remove all the negativities.
02:22Like how when you cultivate a farm, you know my grandmother used to tell me when they used to cultivate
02:28in our farms,
02:29every day they used to weed out not only the thorns but also stones in the field.
02:35Okay, so similarly we need to weed out all the negativities on a daily basis and culture the positivities in
02:44our minds
02:45to be a better human being, to be a contented human being, to be a happy human being.
02:53Education creates capabilities.
02:56Equality creates opportunities.
03:00Leadership creates change.
03:04And values create lasting impact.
03:08A machine may provide information but a teacher provides context.
03:13Technology can answer a question but a teacher can help a student understand which questions are worth asking.
03:22If technology generates the answer, technology generates the answer, teacher can help a young person understand
03:28whether that answer is ethical, meaningful and responsible.
03:34So I would say that let's not fear technology, let's not blindly accept technology either.
03:42Let's see the use of technology, whether it's intelligent enough, whether it can help the students learn better
03:49and it helps make easy the difficult concepts, let's explore it and whether it helps personalize learning, let us embrace
04:02it.
04:02When we hear the word leader, we often imagine somebody occupying a senior position, someone with authority, someone standing in
04:12the front or someone giving instructions.
04:15But leadership is much more than position.
04:19Leadership is about responsibility.
04:23A good leader listens.
04:25A good leader creates opportunities for others and also most importantly gives credit to others.
04:33A good leader accepts responsibility when things go wrong.
04:37Our young men learning to respect women's leadership because gender equality cannot be built by women alone.
04:48It requires women and men to build it together.
04:53We often speak about external barriers but there is another barrier that can sometimes be even more difficult to overcome.
05:00It is the voice inside us that says perhaps I am not ready.
05:05Maybe leadership rarely arrives with a certificate saying you are now ready.
05:11Very often leadership begins before we feel completely prepared.
05:16That happened in my case.
05:18I was just 27 when I was asked to manage Maradha Sitchit funds.
05:23I was not ready.
05:24I was there working already for 4 years.
05:27But then was I told already to run the company?
05:33No, I was learning.
05:35I was, you know, I had started conducting the business.
05:38But then when I, I had to take up the leadership due to management change.
05:45And then it was, it was scary because it is public money that I have to manage.
05:50But then I was focused, determined, hard work, lots and lots of sacrifices, compromises that every, any man would do.
06:03You know, it is like a woman has to do more than what a man compromises to be in the
06:11leadership roles.
06:12I.
06:13I.
06:16I.
06:18I.
06:19I.
