A Melbourne council home to the nation's largest Jewish community is rolling out a new plan to curb growing rates of anti-semitism. Glen Eira council staff will soon take part in training and are offering grants to local organisations to help build social ties.

00:47Amid rising anti-Semitism, the council is rolling out a plan tackling the issue,
00:52nearly three years on from the October 7 attacks and war in Gaza that followed.
00:58That was definitely a turning point for anti-Semitism in the Jewish community.
01:02Councillors will soon take part in mandatory training, launch a public awareness campaign
01:07and work with synagogues and schools to upgrade their security.
01:11This is really a step forward in social cohesion which is a good lesson for all councils.
