CEO of Dor Foundation to give evidence ay Royal Commission today

A national organisation set up in response to rising antisemitism in Australia will give evidence at the royal commission into antisemitism and social cohesion today. In hearings in Melbourne this week, the royal commission has heard from witnesses testifying about security concerns at synagogues and schools - and within the wider Jewish community.

00:01Today we'll hear evidence from Tali Blickblau, she's the CEO of the Door Foundation, that's

00:08an organisation that was launched in 2025 by former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg in response

00:14to rising anti-Semitism in Australia, particularly following the October 7 attacks and the war

00:21in Gaza.

00:22That's an organisation that conducts research into anti-Semitism, into the drivers of it

00:30and also into what could help address the problem, offering things like education to community

00:36leaders and organisations and media organisations as well.

00:40Tali Blickblau has given evidence twice before in this Royal Commission, speaking earlier

00:46about the, she gave evidence criticising the social media companies for failing to take

00:52down posts that were abusive of people who have been giving evidence in this Royal Commission

00:58and today she will be giving evidence as we hear about the security needs of the Jewish

01:04community.

01:05We've heard about funding that is needed at high levels to pay for things like fences,

01:12locking gates and security guards.

01:14And what other evidence could we expect to hear today?

01:18Kath, we'll hear from counter-terrorism experts within the Victoria Police and also from a

01:25representative from the Australian Federal Police.

01:27Earlier this week the Royal Commission has heard evidence about an operation, Operation Park,

01:33that was launched in Victoria after, again, the October 7 attacks and the war in Gaza and

01:38rising anti-Semitism and how that's drawn considerable police resources in the past two and a half

01:44years, specifically addressing issues relating to anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

01:49We are also going to hear evidence today from Julian Lisa, who's the Shadow Minister for Indigenous

01:57Affairs within the Coalition.

01:59Julian Lisa has spoken publicly before about how he has been the target of anti-Semitic abuse,

02:06given that he is a high-profile MP in the Australian Parliament.

02:10So all of this in the context of the security needs of the Jewish community.

02:14And we're expecting to hear that further evidence today.

02:20But there will also be one more day, Monday next week, we're going to hear the final day

02:24of security in hearing block five for the Royal Commission.
