00:00Good evening and welcome to Variety Power of Women presented by A&E Global Media.
00:06Thank you so much, Jennifer. That was incredible. And Eliza, so fabulous.
00:11And congratulations to all of our honorees.
00:14Variety is proud to give greater visibility to the achievements of women in our industry.
00:21To elevate their voices, provide meaningful role models, challenge long-standing stereotypes,
00:30and contribute to a more expansive and representative culture.
00:34We are equally proud to have a partner that has shared that commitment for nearly two decades.
00:41A very special thank you to Paul Buccieri and his team at A&E Global Media,
00:49Michael Feeney, and to Lifetime, a brand that has long been synonymous with stories centered on women
00:58and with programming that has become an important part of our cultural conversation.
01:04Paul, of course, is a champion of great storytelling and of this industry,
01:07but he's also a proud girl dad, raising two remarkable young women,
01:13and he's been a passionate advocate for women throughout his career.
01:17Thank you so much, Paul.
01:22As our founding partner, Lifetime stood beside Variety when we launched this event in 2009,
01:29helping us establish what has become an important celebration of women's achievement.
01:35Today, A&E Global Media's programming reaches audiences in more than 200 territories
01:41and is available in more than 40 languages,
01:45an extraordinary global platform for powerful stories and distinctive voices.
01:50So let's take a look at what they've been up to lately.
02:01What I love about telling stories is the shared emotion that can happen.
02:10Stories from anywhere, shared everywhere, for all kinds of fans.
02:27You hear that?
02:39Oh, look at that.
02:45Everyone has a story.
02:46Sometimes they surprise you.
02:48Oh, yeah.
02:54You're going to want to see what we've got coming.
03:04It's all about the passion for storytelling.
03:07We're trying to open the curtain on what it is we love.
03:28You haven't seen anything yet.
03:32Onward.
03:33To victory!
03:34Yeah!
03:37This is your chance to be a part of history.
03:40Bags are packed and ready to go.
03:42I'm going to take this to a whole other level.
03:45The more I found out, the more I wanted to understand.
03:54Without me, you have no shot.
04:01As you can see, my success speaks for itself.
04:05Help me find out what really happened.
04:09The game's finally giving me something bad.
04:12Come on, let's do this.
04:26Welcome to History Talk.
04:31What gives you hope these days?
04:33The young people.
04:35For the first time ever, four living U.S. presidents on one stage.
04:41We're always looking for stories that are not being told.
04:47Pushing us further than ever before.
04:54This is why we do what we do.
05:14And from the A&E studios team, we're all very excited for the premiere of the new psychological
05:21thriller, Nocturne, with a powerhouse cast led by Liev Schreiber, Zazie Betts, Stephen Graham,
05:29debuting on Apple TV on October 30th.
05:34Apple TV.
05:36We are also honored to celebrate the courage, compassion, and advocacy of women who use their
05:44voices to help others feel seen and supported through Purina and the Purple Leash Foundation
05:50with the Variety Courage Award to Paige DeSorbo.
05:53Thank you to our premier partners, U.S. Bank, who are amplifying their ongoing support of
06:00female entrepreneurs, as well as women-owned and operated business, by presenting tonight's
06:05Variety Entertainment Entrepreneur of the Year Award to Issa Rae.
06:10Thank you to Waymo, the leading autonomous vehicle technology company, our official innovation
06:17partner.
06:18As part of its commitment to women's safety, Waymo's Because Initiative highlights the mental
06:24toll of constantly staying alert while traveling, especially for women, and how autonomous transportation
06:30could offer a safer, more empowering way to move through the world.
06:34They will present the Variety Changemaker Award to the Jennifer Hudson Show.
06:42Extra special thanks to Normani for providing us with an intimate performance this evening.
06:50I also want to thank the Variety Events and marketing team for producing this beautiful night.
06:57And finally, let's take a moment to recognize Gloria Steinem for having the brains and the guts
07:07to champion equality, reproductive freedom, and social justice for all women.
07:14Because without Gloria and the other women who fought along beside her, where the heck would
07:20we all be?
07:21So thank you very much.
07:26Thank you very much.
