00:00Is that surprising to you that the Bears are this good defensively
00:04given what they're doing with?
00:05I don't think they don't have a game wrecker on that unit,
00:08and yet here they are wrecking game plans.
00:11I had such a fortune of sitting with Ryan Poles in the preseason,
00:15getting ready for this roster.
00:17What was the 90-man roster going to be?
00:19What was the 53-man roster going to be?
00:22And I believe when people tell me things,
00:24because I've been in this league for a long time,
00:28and when Ryan Poles said we're going to be rotational up front,
00:31we are going to be able to wear you down in the fourth quarter of games,
00:34we believe our interior defensive line is as good as anybody's in the NFL.
00:39And then the buy-in, and I don't know if you guys caught multiple times
00:43Ben saying we're coaching it differently up front.
00:45What did that mean?
00:46I mean, I was in production meetings with Neville Gallimore,
00:49and I've seen what Street's done,
00:51and I thought Austin Booker was exceptional on Monday Night Football.
00:54And their stance, the technicalities of their stance,
00:59how low their pad level is this year,
01:01the different and unique ways they're using stunts and games up front,
01:05and rotating those guys.
01:07And I was told all that.
01:09I believed it, and I'm seeing it manifest.
01:11And I'm also seeing a team that has young players on the back end
01:15that are learning rapidly.
01:17Dylan Thienemann has been exceptional.
01:19He has been exceptional.
01:20And when Ryan Poles told me he takes the air out of the field,
01:23we are seeing it come to life on so many different occasions.
01:27He takes away yardage, extra yardage, added yardage, because of his speed.
01:32And I just give Ryan Poles a lot of credit.
01:35And listen, I am so cautious in the NFL.
01:37It's only week four as we enter this thing this week to get high on anybody.
01:42I mean, Seattle's defense is like, I just want to sit and watch them every day.
01:47Because I'm a football junkie, and I love watching Mike McDonald's defenses.
01:53It gets me all juiced up.
01:55It's like dessert to me.
01:57It's like a great glass of wine.
01:58I mean, I just love watching Seattle defensively.
02:01And there's a couple teams around the league I could say that of.
02:03But this Dennis Allen group right now, they're taking the coaching.
02:07Jalen Johnson is coming along every week.
02:10And I think they're doing it as a unit.
02:12And that's all you can ask for in this league.
02:14All 11, can they get it done?
02:16I just had the Colts and the Texans.
02:18And the biggest issue is, can all 11 get the job done?
02:23When players tell me it's literally one or two guys making a mistake on every play,
02:27like Cam Bynum did for the Colts last week.
02:29And, you know, shoot, Houston has to play Dallas this week.
02:33And they're 0-3.
02:34But it's got to be complementary football.
02:36And right now, the Bears are complementary football.
