Killer whales, scientifically known as Orcinus orca, are among the most intelligent and powerful apex predators on Earth. Found in every ocean across the globe, these massive marine mammals belong to the oceanic dolphin family. Adult males can reach lengths of over eight meters and weigh more than six metric tons.

Along rugged coastlines, orcas frequently exhibit specialized behaviors such as spy hopping, where they raise their heads vertically out of the water to inspect their surroundings. Their sophisticated communication relies on complex dialects of whistles and pulsed clicks unique to each family pod.

As the sun sets over the ocean, these majestic creatures often display powerful surface behaviors, including breaches and dramatic tail slaps. These actions serve multiple purposes, from stunning schooling fish to signaling other pod members across long distances in the deep sea.
