00:00Talk a little bit about this Jets defense.
00:01You know, they moved a lot of guys last year.
00:04They moved Williams.
00:05They moved Sauce Gardner on the defensive side.
00:08How's that side of the football with the Jets?
00:11Man, I really like it.
00:13You know, they made some big signings in the offseason.
00:15You know, they traded for Minka Fitzpatrick, who's injured right now.
00:19But, you know, Andre Sisco and Dane Belton have played safety, man.
00:23They've been impressive.
00:24Like, Dane Belton, over the last few years with the Giants,
00:27one of the best tackling DBs in football,
00:30just hadn't had the reps to be the guy, and he's showing that.
00:33And he's really filled in really nice and really showing quality there.
00:36Defensive line is totally revamped.
00:39Trevontre Sweat came over in a trade with Jermaine Johnson last year
00:44at the end of the year, so he's a bigger body.
00:47Their edge guys, Joseph Asai and Nagbare, those are two free agents.
00:52They paid pretty good money on the edge, versatile, five-sack, 40-tackle guy.
00:56So they play the pass and the run really good.
01:00Joseph Asai finally got back on the field last week, was banged up.
01:03And then you have Will McDonald, who's been a really nice top 15 pick for them
01:07as a pass rusher, and then you draft David Bailey.
01:09So defensive line, man, is, like, totally revamped.
01:12Like, they got depth, they're tough, and it shows up.
01:15Now, they didn't get to the quarterback much, but they did have several sacks,
01:18and they made Goff uncomfortable.
01:20And then DeMario Davis is a guy that is standing the test of time,
01:2415 years as a linebacker, coming off his best statistical season last year,
01:28which is crazy to think.
01:29But, man, he is a force.
01:31He's fast.
01:31He's healthy.
01:32Spends a lot of time with his body.
01:34And, man, he's been a nice pickup.
01:36So, man, like, between the new play card and AAG taking that over,
01:40and those pieces, veterans, leaders, more experienced players, man,
01:44they kind of look good.
01:45But now, you went against a little bit of a juggernaut,
01:47like they were the number one defense,
01:49hadn't given up 200 yards in two games.
01:50But you play, you know, in perfect conditions, going against Goff,
01:54in the turf, all these weapons.
01:56Like, they're good, man.
01:57Like, they're going to make their plays.
01:58And you didn't get the stops you needed.
02:00But the offense, man, can function.
02:02At least you don't have to do it all on defense.
02:05Absolutely.
02:06I think the billion-dollar question is,
02:08do you think the Jets go into the draft next year for a new quarterback,
02:13or do you think they look for a veteran guy?
02:16And, Anthony, when I say a veteran guy, you know,
02:18you see what they did up in Seattle with Sam Darnold.
02:2030 million bucks, they bring a guy in.
02:22I don't really think you have to be elite at that position to win a Super Bowl.
02:25I think that's been proven the last couple years.
02:28You have to have an elite roster.
02:30Is it more about building the roster,
02:32or do you think they're going to be comfortable over the next couple years
02:34here with Geno?
02:37Yeah, I think you're in a really good place with Geno.
02:39Now, we've only seen three games, right?
02:41But everything indicates that, man, like, he can play another year or two,
02:45which would be great, like, because if you go and you can do that,
02:48like, if it doesn't pan out, you do have the option.
02:51Like, with all the ammo, you have three first-round picks.
02:53Like, you can go draft a guy, get exactly who you want,
02:57or you can, like you said, you can match it up
02:59and go get a guy that's in year eight that's a really big-name guy.
03:03So, man, I think they're in a really good place.
03:05So, if you get the rookie, you have a good spot where, you know,
03:08you have Geno in place, you know, you can kind of learn behind him,
03:12and then when that time makes sense, they do.
03:13But they are built from a standpoint of, like,
03:15they got a young offensive line, two draft, first-round draft picks
03:18at tackle.
03:19They got pieces there.
03:20Brees Hall's locked up.
03:21Garrett Wilson's locked up.
03:23Like, the transition can be a lot easier.
03:25The question is, you know, how do you decipher from the ten quarterbacks,
03:28whoever they are in college, like, who is the best?
03:30And I think we're seeing every week, like, we don't know yet.
03:33You know, like, I think we're going off last year's performances.
03:36Well, that stuff's over.
03:37That maybe sets the bar where you're at,
03:39but we all know how this season's going to drop.
03:41We don't know yet, you know.
03:42So, I think they're in a great place,
03:44and I think that will dictate and work its way out as the season goes on
03:48for them to say, okay, this guy's clearly the top.
03:51We can go get him if we want.
