00:15Patriots and Jets.

00:16So Adam Kaufman, he got like eight hours sleep the last seven days.

00:18He's ready already for this game coming up on Thursday night.

00:25Well, let's address the elephant in the room.

00:28People who may be watching and seeing how I'm dressed and the Boston skyline behind

00:32me.

00:33I don't want you to just assume I'm a Patriots fan.

00:35Really I'm just a big fan of Dave Sharapan.

00:37I feel like if he was coming on to talk about one game, he would look something like this.

00:41But yeah, I just think it's, I think this Thursday Jets home opener, it's a fascinating

00:47game really for both teams with the way both have started off this year.

00:50And I know you were just having a conversation in the previous segment about how underdogs,

00:56you know, were so dominant over the course of week two.

00:59And we saw seven outright wins by dogs, including of course that Eagles collapse at the end

01:05of last night, the Patriots themselves, they knocked off the biggest favorite on the board

01:09in Cincinnati in week one, they very nearly and really should have beaten the Seahawks.

01:14That game went to overtime in week two and the Patriots catching six and a half points

01:20at New York or technically in New Jersey here for this week three game.

01:24I'm not sitting here saying, of course the Patriots are going to go out and win, but

01:28I do expect they're going to keep it close.

01:31So I would be very comfortable taking the points in this one.

01:34Yeah, I think as it pertains to New England, my opinion has not changed.

01:38I know you're not going to like hearing this.

01:40I still think the Patriots are going to have the worst record in the NFL at the end of

01:43the season.

01:44I could care less as to what I saw the first two weeks.

01:46I still feel that way.

01:48You know, especially now that Carolina has finally gone to a guy that can win games 13

01:52to 12.

01:53I don't want to insure them winning like three games or four.

01:56But I, you know, the skill positions, I, the coaching is obviously fantastic in New England.

02:01That's goes without saying.

02:02That's what we're seeing.

02:03There's a big change, which is crazy from Belichick.

02:05And honestly, I hate to say it.

02:06It feels like Belichick's last year maybe just threw his arms up because Mayo was just

02:10coaching a lot harder, making a lot more sound decisions.

02:14But you know, what I'm going to say is, Adam, eventually, as they say, the worm is going

02:17to turn.

02:18We're going to have 17 weeks in the NFL.

02:21And nine of the weeks, the underdogs are going to cover more.

02:23And eight of the weeks, the favorites are probably going to cover more.

02:26So it's not to say that the Jets can't do it this week, but I am with you like until

02:30I'm shown otherwise in the NFL.

02:35If the line is above two or three, I'm just not bleeping with it, man.

02:39Like it's either I'm taking the other team or I'm waiting until there is some separation

02:43like Adam.

02:44What is the big separation between the Patriots and Jets?

02:48They have a much better quarterback.

02:50They have a couple of much better wide receivers.

02:53They may have one or two players on the defensive end.

02:56They play 11 guys at the same time.

02:58And if there's only one or two that are different and a team is getting a touchdown, that's

03:03the way I got to look until somebody shows me something else.

03:06Yeah, I think in a lot of ways, I do look at these two teams and say, OK, if you go

03:11category by category, position by position, other than maybe coaching staff, which is,

03:17I guess, an indictment of Robert Sala, you have to give the edge in pretty much every

03:21category to the Jets.

03:22You do.

03:23But you also just look at what we've seen this year, and I don't think that can be discounted.

03:27You know, you can discount, oh, the Patriots are six and one against the Jets, even since

03:31Tom Brady left.

03:32Well, look at who the quarterbacks were on both sides, quite frankly.

03:35You know, the Zach Wilsons and, you know, what Joe Flacco was there for a hot minute.

03:42White, Tommy White.

03:43What was his first?

03:44Who cares?

03:45These guys are gone.

03:46It's Aaron Rodgers.

03:47Mike White.

03:49Aaron Rodgers is there now.

03:50Now, has Rodgers looked like Hall of Fame Aaron Rodgers thus far?

03:54He hasn't, but, you know, he's only a couple of games in after basically missing two years

03:58of football on the calendar.

04:00And so he's going to slowly find his way.

04:03He wasn't great against the Niners, wasn't a problem necessarily, but wasn't great.

04:07And then in week two was marginally better.

04:09Garrett Wilson is, you know, clearly the best receiver on either team.

04:14And Alan Lazard has had something of a resurgence.

04:17It's just, again, going back to what we've seen, the Jets got destroyed by a much, much

04:23better team in week one.

04:25And they had to eke out a win in week two and, you know, credit them.

04:29They did so.

04:30And again, the Patriots are playing superior competition in a very, very tough way to where,

04:34again, I expect this game to probably go under for starters.

04:38And second to that, I just think the Patriots are, they're live for an upset.

04:43They're absolutely live for an upset.

04:44I don't see how you couldn't say they're not.

04:47But I just think they're going to keep it close.

04:48I think we're going to see a tightly contested game where I do look at the Patriots as far

04:54as finding a strength.

04:55And I think their defense has been excellent.

04:57Clearly, Gerard Mayo, like you said, he's coaching his butt off.

05:00The loss of Jawan Bentley now is a little bit problematic, but guys like Kyle Duggar

05:04and Keon Walsh are over 200 yards rushing so far here in the young season.

05:09I think that he is going to have a great game.

05:11I would probably favor him over Brees Hall in this particular matchup.

05:16What the Patriots can do beyond that, I don't know, because we have seen the woeful inconsistency

05:22of the passing game, in large part because of a terrible offensive line that really struggles

05:26to protect Jacoby Brissett.

05:28Yeah.

05:29And in addition to that, look, I think the Jets are the better team in this matchup.

05:33But people, if they watch that game against the Titans, if the Jets fall down on the three

05:38and kick a field goal, they don't cover that game.

05:41They did, and I think that's being factored into this spread.

05:43It seems high to me, six and a half.

05:45All right, NFL.

05:46Here are the guys who are hurt, Adam.

05:48You tell me, biggest impact player.

05:49Seems like the Rams have taken the biggest brunt of it thus far, if not the San Francisco

05:5349ers.

05:54So, Kup and Nakua both out.

05:55Looks like Kup is headed to IR.

05:57McCaffrey on IR.

05:58Pacheco on IR.

06:00Deebo Samuel going to be out a couple of weeks.

06:03Now flipping over to a couple quarterbacks, Tua's going to be out, I would guess, a few

06:06weeks at least.

06:07Jordan Love could be back as soon as this week.

06:09It looks like next week they're targeting A.J. Brown this week and next.

06:13Most are at Addison to a lesser degree.

06:15Is it fair to say?

06:16I mean, San Francisco just feels like they have more talent than the Rams.

06:20So it's like, I don't, for some reason, I'm just not as worried about them.

06:22But it feels like the Rams are in trouble.

06:25Absolutely, and I have a Super Bowl ticket on the Rams that I may as well tear up and

06:29use it to, you know, wipe up the dog's mess on the floor or something like that.

06:33That ticket is not going anywhere without Kup and without Nakua and a banged up Stafford

06:39Booth.

06:40How much is Kyron Williams going to do by himself?

06:41The Niners, I just think they can kind of tread water and eventually they're going to

06:44be fine when those guys return.
