00:01First thing you're going to do before you drop your dolly is make sure that the front of the
00:05rear dolly is at the appropriate height before you drop your dolly. Now the driver is going to
00:12take his dolly off and drop it in front of his rear trailer. As you can see the dolly's fifth
00:18wheel is sitting underneath the rear trailer. That is at the optimal height when you go to
00:23back underneath it. Back up to the dolly without actually striking it. Give yourself a little
00:29room to make sure that you can get it on the pinnel hook. The driver is now going to get
00:35out and hook the dolly onto the pinnel hook of his lead trailer. One thing you notice that
00:40he did was he set the trailer brakes with the trailer handle. Just to make sure that the
00:49trailer doesn't roll away from you when you get out of it. Go ahead and hook up your dolly
00:53in the direction of movement. Put down your pinnel hook. Once you put your pinnel hook in
01:00there you want to make sure that you hook a dolly to your trailer the same way every single
01:05time. Stay in your routine. So he hooked up his red line, he hooked up his blue line.
01:12You crisscross the chains underneath. Make sure you crisscross the chains. Should the dolly for
01:19some reason become disconnected it will land on the chains. Okay so now we got our chains
01:24crisscrossed. Got our blue line hooked. We got our red line hooked. He's going to go and
01:29put the light cord in there. And he's going to get ready to hook it up to his trailer.
01:36One last thing you want to do is make sure the height is good. You don't want to fork your
01:41trailer. Go ahead and back it under. Make sure you beat the horn. Listen for it, feel it,
01:50and wait for the click. Do a test tug on it. Make sure you play it safe. So now that

02:00hooked up to it, first thing he's going to do, he did his test pull. He's going to climb
02:04under there. He's going to put his flashlight in the jaws. Make sure you've got a proper couple.
02:08And then he's going to come over here and he's going to look at the handle itself to make
02:14sure that the handle is in the notch. Now he's going to go ahead and continue to hook
02:18up his lines. And notice once again how he left the brake lights on the trailer. So he
02:25has the trailer brake pulled down on the dashboard. So when he applies air to the dolly, there's
02:33no chance of any of this equipment rolling away. Now that he's got his air lines hooked
02:39up, he's going to open up his valve. Notice how he opened up his blue line first. That's
02:45going to activate the brakes on the dolly and the rear trailer. You always, always open your
02:50blue line first before you go ahead and open the valve on the red line. Now he's got air
02:56going through. He's going to apply the pinhole hook by hitting the button. It's going to apply
03:01the pinhole snubber. And then he's going to go ahead and roll up his landing gear. Now
03:07that Jim's all done, he's going to walk to the back. He's going to make sure that he's
03:11got brake lights on the rear of this trailer, which in this particular case he does. So that
03:17tells him that he's got brake lights on. So he's got air going to the back. Now he's
03:24going to check his valves. He's going to open the red one. He's going to open his blue line.
03:30So now he knows he has air going all the way through the system. If you've got a chain on
03:34the back door, make sure you chain it up. Do your quick pre-trip. And then we're going
03:41to go around to make sure the fangs are closed. Jim, now that he's done, he's going to do one
03:46last check and make sure that the pins popped out, which in this case, you see the two pins,
03:51they popped out. You see the bolt right there. The bolt is actually like in the middle to
03:55forward position. That means he's got a good secure hook. And if you look over here, you
04:00could see that the handle is in the notch. So this set is ready to go. And he's good to
04:06go.
