00:00I was smiling and weeping. Tears of joy, sir.
00:04All right, well, now this missed me a little bit.
00:06Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:07And today, we're counting down our picks for the best guest performers
00:11who meet a cast member break character, laugh or mess up.
00:23Number 20, Cyclops.
00:25For this fantasy scene, three one-eyed warriors hope to enter a vault.
00:30The entryway is guarded by two maidens that don't like wrong answers.
00:34We say a riddle and you answer it.
00:41Why?
00:41Wait, because that is how it works.
00:47Can you open the door?
00:49Not right now, no.
00:51As Ryan Gosling's Cyclops guesses, he angers and confuses Ashley Padilla's muse.
00:57The guest host's hero can't seem to understand what's happening.
01:01Stop.
01:01Go back.
01:02Go back.
01:03Stop.
01:04Stop.
01:05Go back.
01:06You are his wife.
01:06Go.
01:06Go.
01:07You are his wife.
01:08Go back.
01:11While Padilla keeps the energy up, Gosling doesn't let up in his insistent questions and movement.
01:17This makes his co-star eventually lose it as she tries to handle the situation.
01:22Please, my lord.
01:23Please, God.
01:26I'm begging you, please.
01:29The central argument works even when it involves so much repetition,
01:33forcing the performers to adapt to such a silly situation.
01:37Many of these professionals end up succumbing to the sketch's more absurd premise.
01:41That's the key for the door.
01:43That's the key.
01:44Okay, fine.
01:45Goodbye.
01:45Bye.
01:46Number 19, waking up.
01:48After being in a coma, Pedro Pascal's patient wakes up with a different accent.
01:52This allows the guest host to push his vocal talents to the extreme.
01:56That's not me.
01:58I'm only young.
02:00Another what?
02:01No, I'm not your wife.
02:03I'm your sister.
02:04Let's put a pen in that.
02:05With each new inflection, co-stars like Bowen Yang and Heidi Gardner look ready to burst.
02:10Pascal stays the course before his outrageous acting choices take center stage.
02:15His goofy performance eventually breaks Gardner, with the sketch being too much for some to handle.
02:21You and I are going to be fine.
02:23See how he's sounding clearer already?
02:25Because no matter what, people...
02:31People always gonna...
02:37People always gonna do the dough.
02:39We do hope that the Mandalorian star returns for more hospital hijinks.
02:43His welcome presence and ability to make a fool of himself seems to inspire the cast to laugh at themselves.
02:59If you're eager for more Saturday Night Live highlights, head over to Ms. Mojo's 24-7 live stream for more
03:06laughter from hosts and cast members alike.
03:09Scan the QR code on screen to join us for all things SNL fandom.
03:13I'm staring here, staring at rock legend Bruce Dickinson.
03:16I'm a cock and a walk, baby.
03:18And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell.
03:22Save, baby.
03:23Number 18.
03:24Gift Wrap.
03:25During the Christmas-themed sketch, James Franco plays an employee that's prone to injuries.
03:30His attempts to stop the blood don't end up working either.
03:33John, do you need a band-aid?
03:34No, I don't think so.
03:35Don't think so.
03:36Uh, I think you do.
03:37You're getting blood all over my niece's gift.
03:39I can just cover that with the bow.
03:41Don't worry.
03:42Oh, man.
03:43Woo!
03:44This is deeper than I thought.
03:45Leslie Jones then shows up as an unlucky customer, with things getting even crazier as they go along.
03:51Franco spits a bunch of blood, and some of it gets into Jones's mouth.
03:55The cast member tries desperately not to get sick while the scene continues, and co-stars look frazzled.
04:01All right, that is it.
04:02We're all out of here.
04:04No, I want to...
04:05I want to shoot.
04:06Come here.
04:07Let's just say the writers couldn't have imagined the chaos that ensues.
04:10Thankfully, nobody gets hurt.
04:12But we feel bad for the one comedian that ends up at the splash zone.
04:16That's what she said!
04:17That's not an ambulance for all of us!
04:20No, I cannot deal with that!
04:21That is a fuck!
04:22Number 17.
04:24Beavis and Butthead.
04:25Harkening back to the MTV show, this sketch goes in some surprising directions.
04:30A mundane conversation about technology leads to an audience interruption, courtesy of some Mike Judge characters.
04:37Professor, is there a problem?
04:39Um, yeah.
04:41There's a gentleman in your audience who looks strikingly similar to Beavis, from the cartoon Beavis and Butthead.
04:50It's just a little distracting.
04:51I'm not familiar with that cartoon, but would it help if he moves seats?
04:57Ryan Gosling appears in Beavis makeup, causing Heidi Gardner to lose it when she looks behind her.
05:03The same happens when Mikey Day swaps in as Butthead.
05:06The man with the gray shirt and exposed gums.
05:10Sir!
05:24These two crack up the cast members like Chloe Fineman as the scene builds.
05:28Gardner's initial crack paints the sketch in a different light,
05:32taking a funny script and making it one of the most viral sensations of the season.
05:37The host's crazy prosthetics and wig could throw off even the most veteran performers.
05:42You two really don't know that you look like Beavis and Butthead.
05:50I've heard rumblings that I look like someone from TV, but it's just...
05:57Maybe it's this Beavis person. I don't know. I don't watch much television.
06:02Number 16. Whiskers Are We with Kristen Wiig.
06:05It's fair to say that this feline sketch is a winner every time.
06:09Kate McKinnon and her guests love cats,
06:11but there's often an awkward tension that bubbles over.
06:14The same could be said in this version with host and former cast member Kristen Wiig.
06:19Alan is a Himalayan, and you can find Himalayan on the couch.
06:32You should do stand-up.
06:36You're a regular cat, Williams.
06:40As the two show off their inventory,
06:42they also appear to be getting a little too close for comfort.
06:46Wiig touches her scene partner and causes McKinnon to chuckle to herself.
06:50He deserves a pinch.
06:58That is my nipple, and I think you know that.
07:01As both performers try to move forward,
07:03they're left in a sea of comedic uncertainty.
07:05Both comedians know how to return to the script and smooth out the rough patches.
07:10Among these two all-stars,
07:12plenty of laughs can be gleaned from their impressive screen presence.
07:15So come on down to Whiskers Are We.
07:18The adoption process is simple.
07:20We put cats in your car when you're not looking.
07:23So come on down to Whiskers Are We.
07:26Number 15.
07:28Cut for time, Juicy Tubins.
07:30For this backstage meet and greet,
07:32Will Ferrell plays the security guard dead set on protecting the Tubins.
07:36He's all about the rules,
07:37and he's not interested in anyone getting close to the talent.
07:40Back up to the top!
07:42Back up!
07:43Check the mic up!
07:44Back up!
07:45Everyone say bye-bye, Mama Tubins!
07:49Bye-bye, Mama Tubins!
07:52All right, we've established one thing.
07:54You kids don't listen.
07:56This leads to some funny confrontations with his character and the other families.
08:00When Ferrell's crazed bouncer starts to diagnose the parents,
08:03he cracks a few of them up before losing it himself.
08:06I'm sure a big chunk of you are on the spectrum.
08:13And I can assure you, I am on the spectrum as well.
08:20Andrew Dismukes and Ben Marshall are two of the cast members trying their best to keep going.
08:27With the scene getting more physical,
08:29we're surprised this skit doesn't break down even sooner.
08:32Somehow, the child performers end up being more professional,
08:35not breaking during Ferrell's insane mannerisms or shouting matches.
08:39If you guys think I'm playing around, I assure you, I am not.
08:43Number 14. Pickup Artist
08:45Not everyone has the gift of being able to smooth talk.
08:49This lesson includes a few hopeless ladies looking to branch out at the club.
08:53Rhonda, why don't you give it a try?
08:55I'm ready.
08:58I like your hair.
09:00Oh, thank you.
09:01I think you're a piece of crap and I have a bastard friends.
09:04Whoa, what?
09:05When Melissa McCarthy's character tries to chat up the fellas, she really blows her chance.
09:10The aftermath proves to be too much for Leslie Jones.
09:13She tries to look away, only for the bridesmaid's actress to zero in on her.
09:18With McCarthy going the extra mile here, her co-star cracks up at the guest's raw attitude.
09:23How's that? I initiated physical contact, right?
09:27Well, Rhonda, you choked him.
09:29Yeah.
09:29Put your fingers in his mouth.
09:31And then in your mouth.
09:33Yeah, but then I let him go and I showed mercy, so you're the dumb one.
09:37It's yet another reason to count the host as a welcome addition to any SNL episode.
09:42Her versatile performance throws a welcome curveball each and every time.
09:46Stop! Get off me! Stop that!
09:49Please stop that. Stop that. Stop me. Don't do that.
09:55Number 13. Uncle Ben
09:57In this satirical look at corporations and product mascots, Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben are on the chopping block.
10:04Dave Chappelle then shows up as the Allstate spokesman with a deep voice.
10:08Now wait a cotton-picking minute, Uncle Ben.
10:15Oh, I knew you'd sell me out.
10:18The comedian chuckles before he can say his first line, but then he sets his sights on Pete Davidson's Count
10:23Chocula.
10:24Chappelle's focus on the younger co-star leads to Davidson having to spit out his false teeth.
10:29Look at those big chocolatey lips behind them fangs. Big old fat lips. Seriously, America. Look at Pete Davidson's lips.
10:41It's a hilarious visual among many other worthy wardrobe choices in this scene.
10:46The host can't make it through the sketch with a straight face, but he manages to bring down an SNL
10:51cast member with him.
10:52Thank you very much.
10:54All right, fine. We'll leave, but remember, you made a big mistake.
10:58Number 12. Doctor
10:59Ryan Gosling loves to break any chance he gets, but he usually knows what to do in a sketch.
11:05He was in the operating room with me. He has something he wants to tell you.
11:11I'm sorry for your loss.
11:13And?
11:14I didn't drop anything in anything.
11:17This veteran actor comes ready to throw a comedic wrench into this scene.
11:21As one of the ominous medical staff with an inappropriately timed pitch for a new snack food side project,
11:27Gosling and his bangs send the cast into hysterics with a misplaced camera.
11:32The slogan is, that's the way the cookie crumbles.
11:37Okay, this is, actually I kind of like the idea of cookie crumbles, but.
11:41You do. Could you say that into the camera?
11:44Sarah? No. Doctor, please.
11:48How did you know my last name?
11:49That would have been enough, but then more talk about cookies and a wheelchair entrance.
11:54Take this sketch over the edge.
11:55The Barbie star once again proves that he's one of the more goofball guests in recent SNL memory.
12:01One could mix them into some sort of dessert salad.
12:04Yes. Did you just come up with that?
12:07Yes.
12:09That is genius. Dessert salad.
12:12The dressing could be chocolate syrup or ice cream.
12:17Number 11. New Wife
12:19Whether he's on Curb Your Enthusiasm or SNL, Larry David is bound to please with his comedic personality.
12:26He's usually the guy that's complaining and reacting to the absurdity of life.
12:30In this sketch, he places a much more bizarre character with a new wife.
12:33Look at you lawyers just serving Ally McBeal realness. I'm gagging.
12:39Gagging?
12:40Come on, Greg. She's gagging. Candace is gay famous. She knows all the lingo.
12:46He's in such a funky outfit that you're almost ready to laugh before the climax.
12:50As David tries to finish out the sketch, he finds himself laughing and breaking Cecily Strong.
12:55We gotta go now if we wanna, if we wanna be at power bottoms for her.
13:02You know, 3.30 a.m. performance.
13:05Even Kate McKinnon is thrown for a loop as the comedy great stalls this skit.
13:09It's almost like the entire concept hits the guest performer in real time, sending laughter across the stage.
13:17Thirsty bottom feeders, you know, you know what I'm talking about.
13:20What is a thirsty bottom feeder?
13:22Girl, please, like you don't know.
13:25Number 10. Cut for time. Date in Mexico.
13:28Fans of 90 Day Fiance will appreciate this crazy premise, but they should also stick around for some quality breaking.
13:35You wanna see one of just the bod?
13:37Oh, no.
13:38Check that out, right?
13:39As Will Ferrell's character reveals that his girlfriend isn't coming, Cecily Strong starts to crack.
13:45The first time might be subtle, but there's an undercurrent of laughter that finally bursts.
13:50You two should have these.
13:52Strong really can't contain herself as Ferrell brings out a pair of candy panties.
13:57With absurd lines and her co-star's crazed performance, she drops the act and tries to hide her chuckling.
14:04Then don't think of them as panties, alright? Think of them as regular candy.
14:08I only wore them once.
14:09The former cast member takes a detailed script and makes it even wilder with each moment.
14:15After having to watch a legend shovel down lobster meat, you'll probably be giggling too.
14:20Oh, you're not supposed to eat the shell.
14:22Well, I don't know that.
14:24Number 9. Super Showcase Spokesmodels.
14:27Sometimes a sketch is even better when things go wrong.
14:30You'll be golfing all day and leaving for fun dinner.
14:33Call us their femblebeats.
14:34Host Maya Rudolph joins this skit to reveal showcase prizes, but spends most of the time laughing with Kristen Wiig.
14:41Chickens and other golf accessories cause the two to crumble, along with their hilarious accents.
14:47Oh my gosh!
14:48Where are they going at me?
14:50What the way?
14:51Bill Hader can't even contain himself as the segment continues.
14:55The laughter becomes so contagious, the scene partners can barely read their lines.
15:00No, doll! I can't stop! That's a gas!
15:02Rudolph is arguably the best at staying afloat, making sure that Wiig and Hader are giggling until the end.
15:09She causes more chuckles and dodges a golf cart by the end of this comic masterpiece.
15:16Well, that wasn't supposed to happen.
15:18Number 8. Weekend Update.
15:21Stefan on St. Patrick's Day.
15:22It wouldn't be a Stefan skit without some amount of breaking.
15:27Thank you so much for joining us, Stefan.
15:29Connor, Percy.
15:31When he came back to host, Bill Hader made sure to return with his beloved Update correspondent.
15:37New York's hottest Irish club is off to church, mother!
15:40This time, the travel expert talks about St. Patrick's Day, while also cracking up Michael Che and Colin Jost.
15:47Hader can't escape the laughter either, looking surprised by his crazy script.
15:52This place has everything. Young popes, old popes, Roman J. Israel.
15:59The sassy segment doesn't skimp on memorable moments, as the co-hosts giggle throughout.
16:05After all of the comically bad advice, these three comedians are definitely enjoying themselves.
16:11With a former SNL legend eager to please, this sketch is unforgettable for its loose and fun energy.
16:17It's a bomb, everyone!
16:18It's a bomb, 2020!
16:20Number 7. Benny Hanna.
16:23Channeling childlike menace, Jonah Hill doesn't disappoint with his kid acting.
16:27My name is Adam Grossman. I'm six years young.
16:30He's paired up with Leslie Jones' nanny in a sketch set at a Benny Hanna.
16:34Hill doesn't hold back either, singing tunes from Bob Marley that make his scene partner lose it.
16:40I am not from Jamaica.
16:42I shot the sheriff!
16:45But me, do not shoot the death!
16:49You're giving me nothing here! It feels like pulling teeth without a string!
16:53It's so outrageous that you'll probably laugh along with her.
16:56Jones needs a few moments to catch her breath, as her co-star keeps throwing jokes her way.
17:01Here's some marriage advice for you.
17:03Don't do it!
17:04I'm kicking! I'm six! What do I know?
17:07The Oscar-nominated actor makes the skit that much better by breaking his fellow performer,
17:12pushing the envelope with his bold musical choices.
17:15He'll make you wish that you were at an actual restaurant table watching it all happen.
17:19I love! One time! I'm killing it!
17:23Number 6. New Girlfriend
17:25Dinner parties can be strange sometimes, but an evil guest can really send them over the top.
17:31Fred Armisen takes this concept and runs with it.
17:34Very, very sorry we were late, but here she is. Isn't she great?
17:40Thanks for having us. I'm Regine.
17:42Testing his co-star's limits, the lead performer spreads out along a couch
17:46and into the personal space of multiple people.
17:49Watch this. Come here.
17:58Vanessa Bayer and Aidy Bryant both have moments where they have to break in the face of pure chaos.
18:04Watch what happens when I tickle her behind her knee. Here, give me that. Come here. Come here, you.
18:10Armisen's brave performance proves that nothing is sacred, even dipping his shoes in the food.
18:15Yeah, there it is.
18:17His co-stars eventually laugh as they come face to face with an unstoppable force.
18:22You would be losing it too if you had a talented comedian stretching his legs on top of you.
18:27Okay, is there any more food?
18:30I need to get something down my throat to fight what is coming up.
18:34Number 5. Weekend Update, Gumby Returns
18:38Having been away from the show for decades,
18:41Eddie Murphy managed to return to host SNL in top form.
18:44Yeah, it's Gumby.
18:46They know who the hell it is. I'm Gumby, damn it.
18:48He brought back characters like Gumby for a fun-filled Weekend Update segment.
18:53This includes making co-hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che laugh.
18:57All right, Gumby, Gumby, just calm down.
18:59Don't tell me to calm down, trailer boy.
19:02Having to insult the Update presenters,
19:05Murphy himself stumbles through lines in the most hilarious way possible.
19:09How'd you even get this job? What'd you win, a radio contest or something?
19:12Each flub makes for more laughter as Jost and Che chuckle alongside the comedic legend.
19:18With his unique comic energy, this host can both bring back a beloved role
19:22and have his co-stars in stitches.
19:25It's also nice to see an icon slip up on live TV.
19:29All right, all right, I'll go.
19:30Number 4. Career Day
19:32With the intensity of Adam Driver,
19:34this funny sketch becomes something more than a typical scene.
19:37Greetings, children.
19:39I'm Mordecai's father.
19:42Hello, boy.
19:43The lead performer gets so crazed that co-star Pete Davidson has to break character.
19:48Driver plays an oil baron who's both ruthless and eager to yell for emphasis.
19:54Now, what does an oil baron do?
19:56The answer?
19:58Crush your enemies!
20:00Grind their bones into dirt!
20:03Make them regret they were never born!
20:06After the host starts to dig into the role,
20:09Davidson really loses it after the dramatic actor stabs a bird.
20:13I don't want to give myself, chickens!
20:15Forcing his co-star to hide his smile,
20:18the guest host stays in character like a true professional.
20:21The unpredictable nature of the writing only makes it much harder to stop from laughing.
20:26I want to be you when I grow up!
20:28And so you shall!
20:30Number 3. Girlfriend's Game Night
20:32When you see Bill Hader show up as an old man in a wheelchair,
20:36you know something is coming.
20:38Horace!
20:39Be careful!
20:40You are being such a dude right now.
20:43Men!
20:44How do we, ladies?
20:46He stars as the elderly husband of Cecily Strong's character,
20:49which brings tons of awkwardness to this skit.
20:52When the opportunity strikes,
20:54Horace and his wife try to get pregnant in a laugh-inducing moment.
20:57Don't worry, I have this courtesy blanket, so you won't see anything.
21:02Hader's ability to maneuver the chair around also causes chaos as he fails to avoid his co-stars.
21:08This starts a chain reaction of breaking that includes Strong,
21:11Melissa Villasenor, and the host himself.
21:14You know what? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
21:19Hader's scene partner manages to hang on and remain on the vehicle until the end.
21:24Mixing danger and hilarity,
21:26this sketch lets the guest performer take the reins and make hilarious mistakes.
21:36Number 2. Close Encounter
21:38After three people come to describe their experience with aliens,
21:42it's clear that one of them has had a much different encounter.
21:46It was amazing, and I cried, sir.
21:48Hey, and you, Ms. Rafferty?
21:51Wow.
21:52What floor were you guys on?
21:54Kate McKinnon's character then goes on tangents that turn her co-stars to mush.
21:59We were gray with big fat eyes, little mouths.
22:03They just stared while I peed.
22:06I don't think I was dealing with the top brass.
22:09Host Ryan Gosling giggles his way through most of the sketch,
22:13eventually sending co-stars like Aidy Bryant and Bobby Moynihan down with him.
22:17Did y'all get the knocker stuff?
22:19Uh, no. No knocker stuff. Sorry.
22:23And did you feel threatened, Ms. Rafferty?
22:25Gosling's contagious laughter takes a fantastic skit and arguably takes it to the next level.
22:32After a while, the entire thing feels like a big party that's punctuated by strategic camera shots
22:37that find almost everyone breaking.
22:40This doesn't discount the work of McKinnon that throws the host for a loop.
22:43Tell me about God. What's God's deal?
22:48If you love games, be sure to check out WatchMojo's new game, Terrible Influence.

23:13Number 1. Matt Foley at the gym
23:15During his one and only hosting job,
23:18Chris Farley brought back Matt Foley for an exercise class.
23:22My name, wrongly you don't know me, is Matt Foley.
23:26And I am a motivational meter.
