Engineered strictly from the ground up as a native battery-electric platform specifically for European roads and regulations, this 44-tonne long-haul electric tractor unit arrives in Hanover to demonstrate how 1,000 metric horsepower, an ultra-safe 651 kWh Blade Battery, 600 kilometers of real-world range, and game-changing 1.5-megawatt MCS charging unite to challenge the European heavy haulage establishment.
Commanding the exhibition floor with its bold, aerodynamic silhouette—featuring a low-drag front fascia, flush aerodynamic cab contours, streamlined chassis side skirts, integrated low-door kerbside safety vision windows, full-LED lighting, and lightweight aluminium wheels—the ETT 44 delivers a striking modern identity. Under the high-roof cab lies BYD's proprietary 851.2V electrical architecture, powered by an enormous 651 kWh Ultra-Safe LFP Blade Battery pack. Driving an integrated high-efficiency electric powertrain delivering 743 PS of continuous rated power and up to an earth-shattering 1,000 PS of peak system output, the ETT 44 pulls full 44-tonne payloads effortlessly up 25% highway gradients. Delivering a claimed driving range of up to 600 km (372 miles) on a single charge under laden conditions, it easily covers standard European long-distance shifts. Best of all, BYD brings its revolutionary "Flash Charging" technology to commercial freight: equipped with native Megawatt Charging System (MCS) capability exceeding 1.5 MW of charging power, the ETT 44 replenishes from 20% to 80% charge in just 20 minutes—adding nearly 400 km (248 miles) of highway range in less than half the statutory 45-minute driver rest break. For standard depot charging, dual CCS2 DC ports pull up to 420 kW to complete the same charge in under an hour. In an industry first for heavy electric haulers, BYD backs the Blade Battery with an unprecedented 10-year or 1.2-million-kilometer warranty as standard.
