00:08Here's what happened today. The Trinidad and Tobago Met Service
00:11issued a yellow-level hot spell alert for Trinidad and Tobago,
00:16effective from Thursday, September 24th at 2 p.m.
00:20through Saturday, October 31st at 4 p.m.
00:23Hot spell conditions are possible with temperatures reaching 34 degrees or higher in Trinidad
00:29and 33 degrees or higher in Tobago.
00:32Fees like temperatures could reach 34 to 44 degrees,
00:36particularly during hottest hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
00:41Now, El Nino-related influences, where applicable,
00:45can contribute to warmer and drier conditions by suppressing convection
00:49and reducing daytime cloud development.
00:52Reduced cloud cover allows greater solar heating of the land surface,
00:56resulting in higher daytime temperatures and in combination with elevated humidity,
01:02increased heat stress.
01:05Although rainfall events associated with tropical waves,
01:09the ITCZ or other weather systems may occur,
01:13but it will only provide temporary relief.
01:16The public is advised to stay hydrated,
01:19limit prolonged heat exposure,
01:21especially persons who are more vulnerable to heat,
01:25including older adults, young children,
01:28persons with certain underlying health conditions,
01:31outdoor workers and persons engaged in strenuous physical activity.
01:35All should take additional care to again remain hydrated
01:40and avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat
01:43and take breaks in the shade and cool areas.
01:47Now that we have that covered,
01:48let's see what tonight will bring.
01:50Mostly settled conditions,
01:52despite brief lingering showers
01:53and the low to medium risk of thunderstorm activity,
01:57with minimum temperatures at 25 degrees in Trinidad
02:00and 26 in Tobago.
02:01And you can start putting those heat protection measures in place
02:05for the holiday tomorrow
02:06because it will be hot for most of the day.
02:09But light to moderate showers during the morning to early afternoon
02:13will save the day and give us a much needed break for a while.
02:17There is a chance of the heavier shower developing near hilly and western areas.
02:22Daytime temperatures will reach up to 33 degrees in Trinidad
02:25and 32 over in Tobago.
02:28While Friday's conditions will be similar to tomorrow,
02:32Saturday might just be our favorite day of the week
02:35because we're expecting to get cooler conditions,
02:38partly cloudy skies from mid-morning,
02:40with scattered showers and the medium chance of the heavier shower or thunderstorm
02:43favoring again hilly areas in northwest Trinidad.
02:47Tower sun times now in Trinidad,
02:49sun rises at 555 and 551 in Tobago
02:52and sunset at 6 o'clock in Trinidad and 557 in Tobago.
02:57And if you're spending the holiday at the beach,
03:00seas will be moderate with waves near 1.5 meters in open waters
03:04and below 1 meter in sheltered areas.
03:07Now the Met Office is advising all marine interests
03:10to exercise extra caution along near shore areas around high tide
03:14due to the combined effects of spring tides
03:17and a brief long period northerly swell event.
03:21With that being said, it's now time for your tide times.

03:39A September triple threat is unfolding this week
03:43with three major weather systems bringing significant impacts
03:47across different parts of the region.
03:49A powerful nor'easter is expected to affect the U.S. east coast
03:54with heavy rainfall, strong winds, rough seas and coastal flooding.
03:58Meanwhile, a powerful hurricane Polo is churning off Mexico's Pacific coast
04:04bringing the threat of dangerous winds, heavy rain and flooding.
04:08And in Hawaii, a tropical system is approaching the islands
04:12with the potential for torrential rainfall, flash flooding
04:16and other life-threatening conditions.
04:18A triple threat indeed.
