00:00The Immigration Department has detained more than 57,000 undocumented migrants
00:05in 9,700 operations nationwide between January 1 and September 17.
00:12Its Deputy Director General, Operations, Datuk Lokman Effendi Ramli,
00:17said 1,720 employers were also prosecuted for violating the Immigration Act 1959-63
00:26during the same period.
00:28He said, enforcement action was not limited to foreign nationals,
00:32but also involved employers who violated regulations and the law.
00:37Speaking after an integrated operation Ops Mega at the Shrikolam Flats in Kuala Terengganu early Monday,
00:44Lokman also urged the public to report any information on the presence of undocumented migrants
00:50to the authorities and not to take matters into their own hands.
00:54Meanwhile, he said the Department, in collaboration with the National Security Council
00:59and the Terengganu Civil Defense Force, inspected 133 foreign nationals
01:05and detained 19 undocumented migrants during Ops Mega.
01:09Those detained included a Bangladeshi man, 14 Myanmar nationals,
01:14and four Indonesians aged between one month and 50 years.
