00:02The United States, Denmark and Greenland have entered into an agreement for the U.S. to
00:08develop a significant military presence on Greenland, while prohibiting U.S. adversaries
00:13from building their own bases on the island.
00:16Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's office on Friday said the three parties expect
00:21to sign the deal in the coming week that will strengthen security in the Arctic and the
00:26North Atlantic region.
00:27They said once the agreement has been signed, it will go through the necessary parliamentary
00:32procedures before coming into force.
00:35The Greenland government said the agreement recognizes Greenland's interests and place
00:40in international cooperation to the benefit of all.
00:43U.S. President Donald Trump said the agreement will give the U.S. permanent control over security
00:49and all other needs in Greenland.
00:51He said the U.S. will have the complete ability to defend the security of Greenland and America.
00:56He said no U.S. adversaries will also be able to make sensitive investments in Greenland
01:02without the U.S. Express written approval.
01:05He said for over 100 years, U.S. presidents have known the strategic importance of Greenland,
01:11but none of them were able to do anything about it.
01:14He said the deal is a dream come true for the U.S.
