A Danish Royal Air Force plane landed at Nuuk airport in Greenland late on Wednesday evening, with personnel in military fatigues seen disembarking by a Reuters witness.

According to Joint Arctic Command, the Danish Armed Forces will support the preparation of exercise activity.

Denmark and Greenland said earlier on Wednesday they had begun to increase their military presence in and around Greenland in close cooperation with allies.

U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on Wednesday that the U.S. needs Greenland and that Denmark cannot be relied upon to protect the island, even as he said that "something will work out" with respect to the future governance of the Danish overseas territory.
