Welcome back all you Tech Connectors!   On today's episode, Cory and Luke are going to be demonstrating how you can use modern AI like Chat GPT to easily design and present your ideas! Specifically, Cory wants to show how he used GPT to help him design a set of shelves as well as a series of corresponding information slides for a museum-style display shelf which will host his daughter's movie themed Lego sets. (Once she is finished constructing them all!)  This same process can be used for any number of topics, but it is especially useful for helping blind or low vision individuals troubleshoot elements of spacial design and visual aesthetics. 00:00Cory today our video is all about movie themed Lego sets and how you used AI to give you some

00:07information about creating a presentation about those sets and I just happen to have a Lego set

00:12assembled here can you tell what it is this is our challenge number one all right okay feels like a

00:20plant of some sort okay so movie theme I'm gonna say is it Audrey 2 from Little Shop of Horrors

00:27so very close unfortunately Cory this is in fact the bamboo from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

00:34obviously it's very popular

00:48hello welcome back to another exciting edition of Tech Connect Cory is back with me and he's been

00:55doing a very interesting project regarding movie themed Legos his daughter and the use of AI

01:02Cory would you care to elaborate yeah so for those who have been part of the channel for a bit

01:06you

01:06know I have a rec room with a bit of a movie theater kind of theme going and my daughter

01:11loves doing

01:12Legos and she had been starting to do a bunch of movie themed Legos which it turns out there's quite

01:17a few of them there's actually yeah there is tons of them but I wanted to build a really cool

01:22shelving

01:23unit down in our rec room to display them but that was kind of a challenging because I don't know

01:29the

01:30size of all the completed Lego sets and so I turned to AI to really walk me through building this

01:38whole

01:38entire shelving unit or at least getting the plans and then it sort of morphed into even more than that

01:44yeah and so we're gonna actually kind of go through my process today I'm gonna try to recreate it so

01:49I'm

01:49using a clean version of chat GPT so it doesn't remember all the conversations we've had around

01:56the Legos so we are going to see if we can recreate it and have some of the same magic

02:01that I discovered

02:02because it was actually really really cool well I'm excited so without further ado let's start taking a look

02:11okay Corey so the first step of our project here is you know the Lego sets that you want to

02:17be able

02:18to display and you know how much room you have to display them but what we need to figure out

02:24is okay

02:25so here's where the shelves are going to go but how many shelves am I going to need how deep

02:29do those

02:30shelves need to be how high is this end up going to end up being so all of this information

02:35is what we

02:35need the AI to give us and because we have the data hopefully we can plug it into AI and

02:40it should

02:40generate the answer yeah so I have the list of Legos but I don't know their actual measurements when

02:47assembled so we're gonna hope and see if we get that part of it too so all right so first

02:52off we've

02:53got I've got two things open here I've got a chat GPT window open and then I also have a

02:59list of all

03:00the Lego sets because that's gonna be important so we're gonna hop over there quick and I've got

03:07a list of all the Lego sets here followed by the number that the set is I actually used AI

03:12to get

03:13all those numbers well no I take that back I got it from the Lego website but anyways I'm just

03:18gonna

03:18do a select all here and we are going to get all of these dumped in here all right so

03:25we are in

03:25check GPT and I've typed out my prompt already yeah so the prompt says I am building display shells

03:32for my Lego sets I know it has to be 40 inches wide how tall should it be and how

03:37many shells

03:38should I have use the assembled measurements of the Lego sets and you haven't pasted those in yet

03:43so I assume that's the next step yeah so I'm gonna go ahead and just do our paste put it

03:47in and

03:47now I'm gonna hit enter to process enter loading page loading complete thinking all right so we now

03:54have our answer I'm just gonna navigate by heading and let's take a look absolutely I designed this

04:04around the actual assembled Lego dimensions rather than making all the shelves the same height the

04:09big issue is the captain Jack Sparrow's pirate ship which is dramatically taller than everything else I

04:16checked the Lego dash published dimensions where available for example the pirate ship is about 26

04:22quote HX 26 quote LX 10 quote D the Goonies is about 15 quote HX 25 quote WX 7 quote

04:31D and home alone is about 11

04:33quote HX 14 quote WX 15 quote D now I'm gonna stop for a moment because we've got a lot

04:39of information here but it does a good job of of kind of breaking its answers into headings so I

04:46can still navigate by heading and maybe sort of jump through some of the information

04:51just a quick question there so we're hearing some strange things like 14 quotes HX 15 quotes you know yeah

04:57DX whatever so I the quotes are the inches so if we hear 14 quote that's 14 inches

05:03yep and then the HX I assume that must be heights for example and WX is width and then DX

05:08would be depth yeah and one of the issues there's a little side note yeah we'll give you guys a

05:12little tip here I actually switched

05:14uh voices here this is not the one I usually use yes and it's set I don't have it set

05:19correctly so it's actually reading punctuation punctuation set to most that's why you're

05:25getting the quotes which I don't like but anyway side note but yeah you're getting the X is by you

05:32know with by height by depth basically yes makes sense alright so let's jump by heading though and just see

05:38if we can get a little

05:39clear idea just so that we don't have to read through all of this my recommendation heading level two there

05:45we go so let's see what what is AI's

05:47recommendation here we go heading level three build the case 40 quote white x 84 quote tall x 16 quote

05:53deep alright so it's telling us right away that it's what it wants

05:57I'd use five display level slash shelves with a bottom slash top structure arranged approximately like this colon table with

06:04three columns and six rows

06:06so now it's broken it into tables as well which is kind of cool I thought you wanted shells not

06:11a table

06:12very good

06:13one top row two of six so now it's telling us sort of what the it's broken down each shelf

06:19for us in in a table

06:21so first shelf

06:23Lego sets waving black flag scaling crossbones captain jack sparrow's pirate ship

06:27and you and you'll see that it's even adding some emojis

06:33so it only wants the captain now if you if you remember that one is the biggest model

06:39and so that was going to be the one that was the hardest to fit and so it makes sense

06:43it's on the

06:43top shelf yeah and I think it probably is also saying like hey this is your centerpiece let's put

06:48it up on top yeah got one very important thing mate

06:53I'm captain jack sparrow I'm Batman

06:56there's three columns though I'm just curious what's in the third column

06:59recommended clear height 30 quote column three of three

07:02good so it's even telling us how high to make that shelf from the top knowing we need a clearance

07:08of

07:0830. so very cool let's go let's go check out one more shelf we don't need to go through all

07:13of them

07:14but let's go check out our next shelf down

07:16two row three of set Lego sets the Goonies plus project hail mary column two of three

07:22so this one is telling us to give but we can put two on this shelf our Goonies and the

07:25project hail mary

07:26recommended clear height 18 quote column three of three

07:30again giving us what that height should be because remember we already know that it has to be 40 inches

07:35wide

07:35yes so it's not bothering to give us that

07:37and that one was only 18 inches of clearance whereas the captain jack sparrow ship was 30 inches

07:43so that tells you that there's quite a big difference in the size of those models

07:46so not only are we getting so we're getting two cool things here first of all we're able to figure

07:51out what our dimensions should be for the actual shelving unit but then on top of it it is then

07:58telling

07:58us how to how many shelves we should put and what we should put on each shelf so it fits

08:06now one thing

08:07we could do and I don't think we'll do it here but let's say it if you recall it said

08:11to make it 84 inches tall

08:13let's say you don't have 84 inches clearance for whatever reason

08:18you could simply just say I only have 74 inches available and it would then reconfigure and say

08:26okay well in that case then these are the changes I would recommend in order to fit into that

08:32now we didn't give it a height so it just said hey 84 is the best height

08:37well Corey we've got the plans now so it's time to get out your hammer and saw

08:41let's put this shelving unit together and then all you've got to do is build the lego set

08:45that's it

08:50okay so we have got the dimensions for the shelving unit and you can pass those along to your handyman

08:55and he can build the shelving unit now this is going to be kind of like a built-in a

08:59display cabinet

09:00is the idea and not only are people going to be able to look at the lovely models themselves

09:06but Corey you also have a screen in that room where you want to kind of display information

09:11about the different lego sets if I'm not incorrect yeah so I happen to have a TV mounted right on

09:17the

09:17wall next to it that used to be a scoreboard because we had a mini hoop there nice I want

09:22to repurpose it

09:23and almost make it as like a museum display so what what I want stuff on that screen to reflect

09:30like

09:30the different lego sets so we're gonna see what chat GPT or what AI what ideas would it have to

09:38put

09:38on that display okay and then from that let's kind of see where it takes us so we're gonna we're

09:44still

09:44staying in our same session here so that it kind of remembers the whole project we're working on so

09:50let's find the edit field here so we can type in more chat with chat gender okay so let's see

09:56what

09:56you put in for a prompt this time we've got next to this shelving unit I have a TV display

10:02I want

10:02to display cool things and info about each movie themed lego set what would you recommend putting

10:08on that display all right let's hit enter and get its answer enter thinking loading page loading

10:15complete all right so we have our answer and like last time I'm guessing it's pretty extensive let's

10:21take a peek a little bit at what it's given us chat GPT said colon heading level four yes I'd

10:26make

10:27the TV display feel like a mini Lego movie museum rather than just putting random memorabilia next to

10:32the shelves since your collection spans pirates of the Caribbean gremlins the Goonies Jurassic Park

10:39wall dashi how to train your dragon project Hail Mary Batman hills are all movies Twilight home alone

10:48Willy Wonka and back to the future you have a really fun opportunity to make the display tell

10:53the story behind each set heading level to my favorite concept colon quote Lego movie archive

10:59quote I'd have the TV continuously display a rotating gallery each set gets its own movie dash poster dash

11:06style information screen and for example colon heading level three waving black flag scaling crossbones

11:12Captain Jack Sparrow's pirate shape so obviously now we're going to get an example of what it would do

11:52so now it's giving us a bunch of other little design elements that I think it would say hey if

11:57you want to put these in there

11:59I think these are kind of like informational bullet points it would have on the poster yeah yeah and and

12:04also including

12:04some like different display or different graphics and things it would add so again what's cool though here is you

12:11could read through

12:11all of these and then pick and choose out of those which ones you like you know okay I really

12:17like the title I like the release date

12:19the number of pieces that's all really cool too so but that so that's one part of it right getting

12:26sort of these ideas and then

12:28kind of working with its recommendations to better form what you want as the final product a quick question about

12:35this because you said you've got a TV there and it's suggesting movie posters but those are traditionally are

12:41arranged in a portrait orientation is your TV screen in a portrait or landscape no this TV is in a

12:48landscape so that's a good call so what I'm gonna do now is I kind of already know what I

12:53want my of what I want on the on I want a slide basically I want to create a PowerPoint

12:59that each slide is in landscape and in each slide is the actual Lego set with the name of the

13:07Lego set the number the number of pieces the release date

13:11and then a quote from the movie either from the movie or just a quote that goes with the Lego

13:18set kind of too and I want it to also include some kind of image related to the Lego set

13:25so we are going to kind of massage these results here see if we can get it to do what

13:31we want including creating the PowerPoint for us so let's update our prompt

13:36chat with chat GPT edit okay so let's see what prompts you have put into the edit field here we

13:42have create a PowerPoint slide for Captain Jack that includes the title release date number of pieces an image relating

13:51to the set or movie and a quote specific to the set or movie put the image on the left

13:57and the other text on the left so everything's

14:00going on the left well we'll have to fix that by keep reading and then I'll fix that okay put

14:05the title of the set at the top and the remaining information below that put the quote at the bottom

14:11if this is not visually pleasing make changes to it so a lot of information for the AI to take

14:17on board there yeah all right let's check out what happens after I quick make the change all right all

14:21right so let's check out what it has done shout GPT set colon head work for 44 S button collapse

14:29all right it took 44 seconds in case you didn't know that generated image colon moonlit galleon on stormy sees

14:33button all right told us about the image it created edit image toggle button share this image toggle I created

14:39the first slide with a cinematic pirate aesthetic using the image on the left and the set information on the

14:44right I also adjusted the layout slightly so it reads more like a polished museum slash display slide download the

14:52PowerPoint slide button I use Lego's official information for the September 15th

15:12so it's just giving us some info but let's keep going I want to see if it'll give me a

15:15better description of the like what the quote was no it didn't so okay that's okay we can use AI

15:23now to get a little better description of what this actual slide is

15:27looks like okay so let's just say I am blind blind describe describe a slide to me including the text

15:42text enter thinking all right let's see what its description is to us because the original one didn't say a

15:49whole lot

15:50chat GPT set colon heading absolutely here's a detailed description of the slide including level three overall layout the slide

15:58is 16 9 widescreen with a dark cinematic pirate theme the background is nearly black slash dark charcoal

16:05now that's cool because my TV is in landscape 16 by 9 so at least we know that's good there

16:11is a thin gold horizontal line near the top of the slide the slide is divided roughly into two areas

16:16colon

16:17list of two items bullet left half colon or large cinematic image of a pirate ship bullet right half colon

16:24the Lego set information and a quote list end heading level three top of the slide so now we're going

16:30to get it by heading each part of the slide so that's cool I just want to check out what

16:34the quote is because they still haven't done it so let's jump by heading and see if we can get

16:37down to the bottom left side image heading level right side information heading level three below those cards heading level

16:43three there is a section heading in gold colon

17:39gold oh is that classic I guess so that depends that's a good uh I'm not sure I love the

17:46movies but I don't sure that works not all treasure is silver or gold some of its diamonds some of

17:52its rubies

17:52that's true emeralds yeah yeah so what's cool is is being able to get all this not only creating it

17:59but we want to see though we need to download this presentation this slide and let's see if it actually

18:04works so stick around let's see what it looks like

18:10all right so we have been through the whole process we have got the shelving unit design

18:14Corey's handyman has put together the shelving unit his daughter has built all the models and

18:20and it's uh six years in the future six years in the future and uh the other thing that uh

18:26it remains is to make all of the slides for the different movie sets

18:29now we've created the first one at the captain at jack sparrow black pearl uh slide but we haven't seen

18:36it yet

18:36Corey although we did get the ai description so should we look at it in the flesh yeah this is

18:42what i'm

18:42excited or interested because the description is amazing right it sounds awesome now i want to see

18:49visually how it really turned out sorry yeah we downloaded it let's take a look and we'll we're gonna put

18:54it

18:55into presentation mode right away right when we get it i'm not looking at it i have not looked at

18:59it

19:00yet all right so we've got it in full presentation mode okay here we go i'm gonna look uh well

19:07i will

19:10say it's an excellent looking slide except for one issue what's that the image that it created of the

19:17pirate ship yeah um as you know you asked it to be aligned to the left side yes which it

19:23is however in

19:24order to achieve that they just the ai just um adjusted the dimensions of the image without it

19:31didn't crop the image it just adjusted the dimensions so now you have a very squashed looking image on the

19:37pirate ship on the left side of the slide bit of a shame but but other than that i mean

19:41is the layout

19:43honestly it's a lot better than i could have done okay so i think that's what's kind of cool here

19:47so two

19:48things that one number one is what you just said right it took the image and squashed it number two

19:53if i'm not mistaken that is not actually the black pearl uh that's correct yeah just a generic pirate

19:59yeah so i think what's kind of cool though is we were able to build a slide that would be

20:04an awesome

20:04template that we could then get rid of that you know kind of bum generated ai image because i think

20:12ai

20:12images are always going to be sort of it's pretty clear they're ai most of the time yeah but if

20:17we remove

20:18that and actually put in a a specific image of the black pearl other than that 95 of the work

20:26was done

20:27for us yeah um i there's no way i would have been able to create this powerpoint slide uh even

20:34if i had

20:34vision i probably wouldn't have been able i will say that i wouldn't have been able to make this look

20:38so

20:38nice yeah so i think that's what's really cool about it is i think it got me probably 95 percent

20:45of uh to the end result of this whole project um not a hundred percent obviously i still had to

20:51have

20:51the shelf built in the leg and our and our slides not perfect but i'm way farther than i would

20:58have

20:58been if i was trying to just do that do this on my own who knows what it would have

21:02looked like all

21:03right well that's awesome and this has worked well and i think there's a lot of potential for all

21:07sorts of projects around the house or really anything you can think of just by using the

21:12correct prompts and having a vision the human needs to have the idea in the first place and then

21:16the ai can step in to help with the details so if you haven't tried anything like this out well

21:22why

21:22not give it a go yeah i'm curious what are some of the things you've been doing with ai throw

21:27it down

21:28in the comments have you thought of different projects or ways that it could help you out it

21:34doesn't have to be vision specific although i think there is tons of options and opportunities

21:40for ai to help individuals who are blind and visually impaired with some of these visual heavy
