00:13supply Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, units. Judge Azrul Darus ordered 49-year-old
00:21Datuk Seri Azraya Jamaluddin to begin serving his sentence on Friday. Azraya, together with
00:27another person who is still at large, was charged with deceiving 35-year-old Lim Weisheng
00:32into believing that he could secure an AED supply project. This led Lim to deposit RM361,150
00:41into the bank account of ZAJ Empire Resource, which belonged to the accused. The offence was
00:48committed at a golf club between August 12 and October 22, 2024. The charge was made under
00:55Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between 1 and 10 years, whipping
01:01and a fine upon conviction. According to the facts of the case, Lim was introduced to Azray
01:07by an acquaintance who claimed that the businessman had connections with several government agencies.
01:13He was also told that Azraya could secure a 5 million ringgit project to supply AED units
01:19to the health ministry. Convinced by the offer, Lim subsequently transferred the money into Azraya's
01:25bank account. Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Zulhilmi Latif sought an appropriate sentence as a
01:31deterrent, citing the victim's financial losses. Azraya, who was unrepresented, appealed for a lenient
01:38sentence, saying he was supporting his family and had a heart condition requiring follow-up treatment.
