00:08Kero Sessions Court granted stay of execution on his jail sentence on Tuesday.

00:14The court sentenced the Road Transport Department officer to one year in prison and an 80,000

00:20ringgit fine after finding him guilty of offering bribes as inducements for not taking enforcement

00:26action against lorry operators.

00:29The court said the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt at the end of the trial and

00:34failed to rebut the statutory presumption under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission

00:40Act.

00:41The accused gave a total of 4,250 ringgit to other JPJ officers as an inducement not

00:49to take action against lorry operators who violated overloading regulations.

00:54All offences were committed at three different locations at the JPJ complex in Bukit Katil

01:00from January 2019 to December 2020.

01:04The stay of execution of the sentence which was requested by the defence team has been

01:09granted on the condition that the defence files a Notice of Appeal on the bail to be

01:14increased to 22,000 ringgit from 12,000 ringgit.
