00:00It's one thing to allow your homegrown home run Kane to literally be parted with in his prime still.
00:05It's another when you have no proper replacement for him at first base besides the nice blossoming of Jared Young
00:12this year when called upon.
00:14And the power is most certainly gone because the Mets did nothing to properly allocate in other areas to supplement
00:20the power that they lost from Pete Alonso's departure.
00:23It's not just about Pete Alonso.
00:25It's that Pete Alonso is the glaring example of how much David has gotten wrong early as president of this
00:31organization.
00:32It's not just signing Luis Robert.
00:34It's not just banking on Jorge Polanco boneheadedly.
00:37It's not just going ahead and being complacent with at times the aspects not so much this year but in
00:43years past the bullpen or at times the rotation.
00:46Because what is one thing that Alonso brought to the table that not many Mets players in this current core
00:51group have been able to provide because a lot of them haven't been here long.
00:53And that's availability.
00:54See what you will about Pete Alonso.
00:56The availability that comes with Pete is what's reigning true.
00:59And what we see things as egregious as Pete Alonso having more home runs at city field this year than
01:06Jorge Effie and Polanco.
01:07That's a problem.
01:09So my thoughts and my response to fans, the outpouring support for Alonso, it is all those things combined.
01:16Would this have been the exact same if the Mets were in the heart and in the trenches of a
01:20playoff push right now?
01:21No, it would not have been.
01:23They would have still given Alonso his flowers, but I promise you there would have been far more boo birds
01:27at city field.
01:28Okay, so context is so important behind all this.
01:32Alonso is literally the home run king of the organization.
01:35He is deemed by many as a top five fixture in the organization's history for someone who never even won
01:40championship here.
01:41So when we look at that and we look at everything that happened, none of this should be surprising.
01:46So when we look at the Mets are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
01:46the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are the ones that are
