The Be Peace Africa podcast is dedicated to promoting peacebuilding efforts, ethical behavior, and moral development across Africa. In this special episode, host Ronald Kiyimba interviews Richard Blank, focusing heavily on the power of communication, storytelling, and face-to-face interaction over modern technology.

Communication vs. Technology: Richard Blank emphasizes that while modern technology and messaging apps are highly useful tools, they cannot replace the value of face-to-face communication. He shares that individuals who master clear, authentic message delivery are often the wisest.

Cultural Appreciation: Blank describes himself as "just a kid from Northeast Philadelphia" who is in awe of Africa's rich and diverse culture, expressing a deep desire to learn from it rather than just instruct.

Empowering Future Global Citizens: The discussion details how sharing personal education, life stories, and communication skills can directly support African entrepreneurs, language learners, and those looking to become expatriots traveling the world.

00:00Yes, I'm grateful for this.
00:01Me too.
00:02So it is getting dark.
00:03It is getting darker here in Uganda.
00:07I don't know.
00:08Is it morning that side?
00:10We're looking at 10, 14 in the morning.
00:12I just had my breakfast.
00:13Got a nice big thing of coffee next to me.
00:16So I'm about to enjoy my day, which is nice.
00:19Oh, it is getting dark at this side.
00:23Well, I don't want it to be too dark for you, my friend.
00:25I'll let you wrap it up,
00:27give you some final thoughts on your amazing podcast,
00:30and I'll let you go have a good dinner.
00:33Yes.
00:35I think mental health issues.
00:38Would you like to,
00:39would you have an insight into mental health issues?
00:43There are so many mental breakups this side.
00:46That's an individual forced march that people have to take.
00:50For me personally, when it comes to health,
00:52if your body feels good,
00:54there's a chance your mind's going to feel good.
00:55But I can't make your financial problems go away
00:59if you're having a bad marriage.
01:00But I mentioned before,
01:02if you can sleep,
01:03if you can find ways to do exercise,
01:05have a half-decent diet,
01:07figure out how to stretch and relax your mind,
01:09at least that's half the battle.
01:12At least you'll recharge some batteries, Ronald,
01:15in order to be able to confront
01:16some of these challenges that you have.
01:18But I'm going to say this as an older guy.
01:20Just don't be hard on yourself.
01:21If you put that additional weight,
01:24it's only going to make it more difficult.
01:26Just try to take off as much weight,
01:29mental weight as possible.
01:32And also, like with what happened,
01:35we made a mistake with the date Sunday,
01:36no big deal.
01:37But nothing should ever be a real deal breaker
01:40where I'm so angry at you, Ronald,
01:42and I'll never forgive you in one time,
01:44and that's it.
01:45Don't ever do things like that
01:47because sometimes people can run out of gas in the rain.
01:50Sometimes things happen
01:52with the internet in Uganda and in Costa Rica.
01:55I mean, you're nine hours ahead of me.
01:58So, I mean, it's something that we had to coordinate.
02:01And so, please give the people in your lives,
02:04the real special people, extra chances
02:07just to make sure that things can work out.
02:09And maybe that will reduce some of the mental stress
02:13that people are having.
