00:05Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at The Hague, Netherlands. In their decision, it says the
00:10chamber therefore finds no notable change in circumstances that warrant the release of the
00:14accused with or without conditions. For these reasons, the chamber hereby decides that the
00:20accused shall continue to be detained. According to the trial chamber, it finds there is a likelihood
00:25that Duterte would abscond, obstruct, or endanger the court proceedings. The court explains in
00:31respect of the latter considerations owing to the prosecution's submission of the witness and
00:35evidence lists. It adds that this increases the accused's ability to interfere with witnesses
00:40either directly or through his family or supporters in the Philippines. The court is also assessing
00:46Duterte's fitness for trial, and while the results of this assessment are still pending, the court says
00:51the panel's reports do not contain any information that warrants a modification of the accused's
00:55detention. In May this year, the chamber said Duterte is still not qualified to avail himself of
01:00temporary liberty, ruling that the former president shall continue to be detained.
