00:01Good morning everyone. I'm down here at the Brisbane Markets for the ceremonial opening of the Queensland mango season and
00:08it's an absolute hive of activity. I'm joined by the CEO of the Brisbane Markets, Andrew Young. Andrew, plenty happening
00:15this morning. Can you run us through what the plan is for today?
00:17Will, it is a great morning and there's a lot happening. It is the auction of the symbolic first tray
00:23of mangoes. This is to help two very worthy charities here in Queensland, the Lady Musgrave Trust and Red Kite,
00:29the symbolic auction of the mangoes. It is symbolic. It's Queensland's favourite fruit. It's a fundraiser, as I said, and
00:37it's supported well by the industry.
00:40And what are you hoping for in terms of a price? I've seen previous years, these things go for tens
00:45of thousands of dollars.
00:46They do, Will. And this year, we'd probably like to get over $70,000. That would be nice. We also
00:52have other fundraising activities. So whatever we raise, if it's $80,000, $90,000, it would be an excellent outcome.
00:58And I know that obviously it's supporting two great charities, but we see the tuna auctions in Japan where it's
01:05symbolically good luck for the season ahead. Is there a little bit of an element of that to becoming the
01:10mango mona?
01:10We always love a bit of good luck, Will, so we'll take that one on board.
01:14And just finally, we've got mangoes here today. It's the opening of the Queensland season symbolically. Will we see mangoes
01:22on our shelves from today?
01:24Yes, more and more mangoes from here on in.
