00:16It is difficult for veterans to adapt to civilian life
00:19due to the lasting impact of their experiences,
00:22and work is an aspect that can restore a sense of independence,
00:26professional identity, and connection with society.
00:28As part of the interviews conducted for a study
00:31by the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation,
00:33one of the veteran entrepreneurs described it this way.
00:36For me, work became my rehab specialist.
00:39At the same time,
00:41employment shouldn't be viewed as a universal means of rehabilitation,
00:44since with inadequate pay,
00:46a mismatch of duties with competencies and health conditions,
00:50discrimination,
00:51or the lack of necessary workplace accommodations,
00:54it may not promote recovery,
00:56but instead worsen exhaustion.
