00:02We begin this morning with a devastating crash in Los Angeles, where an NBC News helicopter
00:07went down while covering another deadly accident.
00:10The NBC News Los Angeles chopper was over the scene of a fatal bus crash Tuesday evening
00:16when it went down in a parking lot in Chatsworth, that's in the San Fernando Valley.
00:20The pilot and photojournalist on board were killed, along with a person on the ground.
00:25Two other people were taken to the hospital, and the accident the crew had been covering
00:30was already deadly.
00:32Three people were killed in that bus crash.
00:34The helicopter was operated by Angel City Air, an aerial production company affiliated with
00:40the station.
00:41NBC Los Angeles lost contact with the chopper while it was on the air just before 7 p.m.
00:47The two people on board were Angel City Air photojournalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George
00:53Marcinol. More than 70 firefighters responded, and with two deadly crashes at the same scene,
00:59Los Angeles officials noted just how many people are now dealing with the aftermath.
01:04This has been a deeply traumatic day for far too many people. We need to recognize that
01:11trauma and we need to make sure that the people who need our support in the days ahead receive
01:17it. There are serious questions about what happened tonight. We share a commitment with our city
01:23partners, with our partners at Metro federal agencies and our public safety agencies to fully
01:30understand what happened. The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are now investigating the
01:36helicopter crash alongside the LAPD.
