00:00New video this morning out of southern New Jersey shows a terrifying mid-air collision.
00:07Two helicopters spiraling out of the sky and crashing to the ground.
00:12It happened just before noon Sunday over Hamilton near the municipal airport.
00:17Officials say the helicopters collided in mid-air, killing one pilot and leaving another critically injured.
00:22There were no passengers on board.
00:24Cell phone video posted online captures at least one helicopter spiraling as it falls.
00:30Fire crews rushed in and extinguished the flames that engulfed one of the aircraft.
00:35At the airport cafe, the shock hit close to home.
00:38They were just at our cafe having breakfast.
00:41They're regulars.
00:42They come in every week or every other week.
00:46They fly in together.
00:47Shouted out to my wife.
00:48I think those two guys just crashed.
00:51And it's a little bit of a disbelief.
00:52Wow, can you imagine?
00:55That coffee shop owner says he watched the two pilots take off together, something they had done many times before.
01:01Authorities say it's still unclear what caused the collision.
01:04The helicopters were small aircraft.
01:06The FAA and the NTSB are now investigating, focusing on flight paths, visibility, and whether the pilots were able to see one another before impact.
