00:00Breaking news coming in at the top of this bulletin, the political war over the UPI merchant fee continues to
00:05escalate
00:06and in the latest, BJP has upped the ante against Lokasawa leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi
00:13saying that the finance panel that approved the MDR framework had five congress entities as well
00:18including Pichu Damram, Manish Tiwari, Gaurav Provaid, Ushourilal and K. Gopinathu were all present
00:24in the 12th of August when the report was adopted and there was no dissent recorded in the published minutes
00:30so therefore the BJP is asking why is Rahul Gandhi opposing something his own MPs
00:35including former finance minister Pichu Damram and former UPM minister Manish Tiwari supported within the parliament
00:41Let me go across to my colleague Piyush joining us with more details
00:44Piyush, a very scathing attack coming from the BJP asking why Rahul Gandhi was silent when his own congress MPs
00:50was supporting or at least not opposing this proposal in the cabinet
00:54Well that's right Ritanshu, you know basically this is about the standing committee report on finance
01:00which was adopted by the entire committee which was basically talking about the MDR revenue framework for UPI
01:07and the report at the time when it was adopted it was also notified that it is very important to
01:14come up with such provisions
01:16and it should be notified and operationalized without any kind of delay
01:20when this report was adopted five congress MPs including Pichu Damram, Manish Tiwari, Gaurav Gogoi, Kishul Daal and K. Kokinath
01:27were present on 12th of August and they had expressed no dissent and this is also recorded in the published
01:37minutes
01:38In fact, the committee had also mentioned that any delay in notifying and operationalizing
01:44this framework leaves payment service providers heavily dependent on inadequate subsidies
01:49thereby threatening critical investments in cyber security, fraud prevention and network infrastructure
01:55Now what is happening when these details have come out, Vidya is asking why is Rahul Gandhi opposing
02:01which his own MPs including Pichu Damram and Manish Tiwari supported who is in the parliament
02:08It remains to be seen how the congress is going to react but yes it's a big fact check coming
02:13to be formed
02:13where these MPs who were part of his standing committee on finance had accepted the recommendations of the committee
02:20they had adopted with his report and they did not accept any kind of dissent
02:25Alright Pichu, thanks a lot for joining us with those details
