00:00Hey, good morning, Greg. I think after watching the NFL this week, I think there is a positive
00:04you can take away from last Wednesday night's game against the New England Patriots. Having
00:08seen all the games and it was really exemplified by a stat I mentioned earlier in that Broncos
00:13Chiefs game last night where the Broncos missed 28 tackles and the Chiefs gained 275 yards
00:18off of those missed tackles. And your Patriots defense didn't really miss a ton of tackles.
00:24They had a couple mistakes, right? They leave JSN way too open on that fourth down play.
00:30There were a couple moments where they were not perfect, but overall they were great.
00:36They tackled well. I think they rallied to the ball pretty well, especially compared to these
00:40other teams like watching that Bears Panthers game. Neither one of those teams wanted to
00:44play defense. The Broncos last night defense, they looked abominable. The Chargers defense
00:49did not look good against the Cardinals. So there are so many defenses across the league.
00:53I think that's one of the reasons you saw so many points scored is because so many defenses
00:57did not want to tackle. We're not prepared to tackle and your Patriots were. So I think
01:01Mike Vrabel deserves some credit for that. Getting them prepared in the preseason and
01:05the joint practices and your defense deserves a lot of credit. Well, I don't want to speak
01:09for Wiggy, but he seems high on the Patriots defense. You've been talking a lot about how
01:16good the defense looked to you. Oh, no, the defense is great, but it's about your offense.
01:20I mean, we watched the Super Bowl last year. The defense did a great job in the Super Bowl,
01:25but offense is what's king in today's NFL. Yes, having a good defense definitely is a big
01:31part of helping you get there. But if you have a great defense and no offense, what's
01:36that mean? And I think when you look at the Patriots, that to me is the thing that I'm a
01:43little bit concerned with right now. Granted, it's only week one, so I won't necessarily hit
01:47the panic button, but you start to look at what is this offense going to look like?
01:52My expectations for this offense, would it be one of these teams that was scored in 30
01:56points? Yeah. You scored what? 10 points? Well, you were also able, and again, the schedule,
02:01but you were able to put a lot of points up last season, and suddenly you're not able
02:06to in week one. It's a little bit alarming. Yeah, and if people are going to instantly go
02:10to the schedule, and I can't fault them for that. I cannot fault the people who go, oh,
02:14it's the teams you played. When you play against Seattle, they're good. I'm not taking
02:19nothing away from them, but you only scored 10 points. Yeah. And it was, I think, historically,
02:26week one anyway, point-wise, most points since the merger or something like that.
02:34So, yeah. It's a hello and good morning. So, I know it's week one, but I just have to
02:41evaluate what I see as I see it in the NFL, and we talk about the importance of this week,
02:47but not only from the importance of Drake May and his performance, but the football team's
02:52performance. I had the Patriots, and I still do think they're one of the best teams in the AFC,
02:57but I have them at the top of the league in the AFC, and I think when you start to
03:01look at
03:01the first week, and I'm going to look at the teams that really, I felt like, all right,
03:06these teams could challenge New England for that number one seed. Teams like Baltimore,
03:13Buffalo, Jacksonville. You were worried about, or you brought up Denver. How do you feel about
03:19Denver now after last night? Same thing. Like, if I'm a Denver fan, I kind of feel like a New
03:23England fan. I'm like, all right, my defense is really good, but what's my offense? What's my
03:28quarterback? And so, when you start to look at the two teams that I think, you know, and maybe
03:34Jacksonville could be that, like, that third team looking in the window, but when you look at
03:38Baltimore and Buffalo, the way that they performed in week one, especially from an offensive standpoint,
03:45I'm like, all right, man. Like, I know it's week one, and I know we play 17 games, but we
03:51need to
03:51turn this thing around real quickly, because I need to see some, like, my expectations for the
03:56offense needs to be like, all right, this thing looks like it's going to be rolling, and where you were
04:03after week one, very disappointed on a lot of performances, from whether it's Josh McDaniels
04:10and some of the conservative play calling, or, you know, I just didn't really understand the
04:15game plan. I get it. Maybe Mike Vrabel says, all right, we got two high safeties, cover six,
04:19shine light. We'll dive deeper into that. We got to run the football. I just am a little bit concerned
04:24when it comes to the power rankings of the NFL, because I had you right there with Buffalo and
04:30Baltimore for my team coming out of the AFC. So, if you were going to, and it's only week one,
04:35but if you
04:35were going to rank the AFC power rankings, where are you right now after week one? I would say...
04:41Buffalo, clearly, right? Buffalo and Baltimore, right up there, running neck and neck with each
04:45other. I would say Jacksonville, somewhere up there. I'd probably throw Houston in there because
04:51of their performance, where they, you know, that was a really good game against Buffalo and offense.
04:57Kansas City?
04:58I wouldn't necessarily have Kansas City up there just yet, like, in my opinion, but those would be,
05:06like, my four teams that I would say right now, these are the teams coming out of the AFC that
05:11I
05:11feel pretty good about in power rankings. Like, I know the Jets won, but I'm not going to kind of
05:16put
05:16them up there. I'm the same with Pittsburgh. I wouldn't put them up there. Cincinnati was a
05:21little... Joe Burrow, I know Shime loved it. Joe Burrow didn't look great. But, yeah, so I would say
05:28those four teams for me. And I don't know where New England is right now because I don't know what
05:34this offense is going to look like. My expectations, like, were so high with this offense to see what they
05:40did was shocking. A.J. Brown is a blow. Major blow. Every day that we get away from it, it
05:49seems,
05:50maybe it's just me, but it seems more depressing and more of a blow because I was pinning a lot
05:58of my hopes on the connection between he and Drake May and what he was going to do to open
06:04things up.
06:04And I just don't see the same result. But you can't blame it on that because you see all these
06:11other teams that don't have elite receivers like that. Like, you watch Josh Allen and what he did.
06:16But Josh Allen is a whole nother level. See, that's the thing, though, right? Josh Allen can put a team
06:22on his back, Curtis. Drake May, can he do that? I don't know, but we didn't, entering this season,
06:28I don't think we had Josh Allen 50 floors ahead in the skyscraper above Drake May. Like,
06:34I feel like he should be able to do a little bit more with Dobbs. And I don't think that
06:40this is
06:40an out, in other words. Like, if Drake May stinks on Sunday, I don't think we can just say they
06:44didn't have A.J. Brown. No, you're right about that. No, no, no, no. I'm just saying, like,
06:49the farther we get away from the injury, the more I'm like, oh, God. Like, it was,
06:54there was so much promise. Right. Because you wanted to see Drake May with that elite receiver.
07:00We all talked about it. I think we all felt like, you know, Drake May was good. It's,
07:06can Drake May, and when you look at Chicago, right, I guess Roma Dunze is a first-round pick,
07:13so if you want to say, but I wouldn't necessarily put him up there. And I would say, can Drake

07:21do what Josh Allen does? Or at least close to it? Because I was listening to, oh, man,
07:27I don't know if it was the afternoon show or if it was the midday show, Jones and Keith,
07:32where they're like, somebody was talking about, like, how Drake May is similar to Josh Allen
07:40and what he, and why doesn't Josh McDaniels use Drake May like that? I'm like, well,
07:45Drake May doesn't run like that. And can he get you close to Josh Allen production, Drake May?
07:53I'm asking the question. This season? This season? In his career? Yeah.
07:58Well, I think in his career, yeah. I mean, he's not as, he can't run over guys the same way

08:05can run over guys. That I agree with. I mean, he did bulk up, and Shime told me that he

08:11in advance of this season. So. To me, the big, obviously, physically, Josh Allen is more imposing
08:17as a runner. He's got a stronger arm. We all agree. Yeah. The area that I think Josh Allen has
08:23ahead of Drake May that Drake can catch up on is between the years. Josh Allen has this quality
08:30where he is, like, if I'm a Bills fan, as a guy that roots against the Bills, I always feel
08:35like
08:35he's going to win. Like, it's like Mahomes in his prime, where, or three, four years ago, Mahomes,
08:41or even Lamar Jackson late in the game. I feel like Lamar Jackson is either going to complete a pass
08:45or run for a first down. I don't have that feeling with Drake May. Yeah. Well, we'll find out on
08:49Sunday.
