Skeletal remains found in a cement-filled barrel near Durian Tunggal Dam, Machap Baru, have been confirmed human, and the case classified as murder.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the post-mortem, now in its second day, has yet to determine the victim's sex or cause of death.

00:02Skeletal remains found in a barrel near the Durian Tonggal Dam Reserve in Machap Baru, Alor Gaja, have been confirmed
00:08as human.
00:09The barrel was discovered last Sunday, at around 11.40am, by three anglers, fishing at the reservoir about 15 metres
00:17below road level.
00:18The anglers cut open a section of the barrel, spotted what they believed were bones, and alerted police.
00:25An initial check found cement covering the upper part of the barrel, with the skull detached from the rest of
00:30the remains.
00:31No tissue was found on the bones.
00:33A blue sarong, a t-shirt and a pair of shorts were found alongside the remains.
00:39Firefighters helped hoist the barrel to road level before it was sent to Hospital Malacca for examination.
00:44Alor Gaja District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said the case has been classified under Section 3.02 of
00:52the Penal Code for Murder.
00:53He added that the victim's sex and cause of death have yet to be determined, and the post-mortem examination
00:58is ongoing.
