00:05Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today. I'm Akshita Nandakopala.
00:10Over the next 60 minutes, we'll be getting you all the top stories that we're tracking this evening.
00:15We begin by giving you a sense of what to expect over the next one hour here on Super 6.
00:20As always, we focus on what's happening in the southern states.
00:23Over the weekend, there's been one talking point, which has been Chief Minister Vijay meeting with superstar and racer Ajit.
00:32That's our top focus on this edition of Super 6. We'll be getting you all the politics that's playing out
00:38over it. Why?
00:39A couple of reasons. One, the opposition questioning if this is an official trip, why is the Chief Minister hanging
00:45out with all of his friends at a racing event?
00:48Where's the investment? What investors is he meeting? All of those questions being raised by the opposition and also, once
00:55again, questions by the opposition over Trisha's presence with Chief Minister Vijay.
01:01We'll get you all the details of the big political fight on that, but also coming up on the show,
01:05we've not forgotten that it's Ganesh Chaturthi.
01:08I'm wishing all of you a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi or a Vinaykar Chaturthi.
01:12In the south, of course, this festival is celebrated in a very, very grand scale.
01:17And Tamil Nadu, guess what? It's got a talapati makeover, as you can see here.
01:22My colleague Pramod Madhar will get you a ground report on exactly what those Ganeshas look like, inspired by Vijay.
01:29We'll get you all of those details and much, much more here at the Headlines Fest.
01:36Bike rider on Gurugram's busy golf course road takes a frightening turn for female biker.
01:42Car chases her, hits her bike and speeds away.
01:45Shocking incident captured on camera.
01:48Gurugram police filed Suomoto FIR.
01:54India today tracks down the accused car driver.
01:58Identified as Kalyan Baisla, he remains brazen, blames victims, says she was riding erratically and posted an edited video to
02:05show him in bad light.
02:07He's not been taken into custody yet.
02:13Retired Indian Air Force officer, brutally assaulted with an iron rod by a parking attendant in a business park in
02:20Gurugam.
02:21Victim, Amit Kumar Gupta, was part of IAF's Operation Safed Sagar during the Kargil Wars.
02:30CBI registers FIR in Disha Salia death case.
02:33FIR names UBT USA in our leader Aditya Thakere, actor Dino Moria, Rhea Chakrabarti and Suraj Pancholin FIR.
02:41Disha's fiancé, Rohan Roy, also named.
02:48Indian women's team refuses to collect the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan cricket chief Mohsen Nakhui after their thumping win
02:55in final against Sri Lanka in Dubai.
02:57BCCI says no question of change in India's stand.
03:12Chief Minister Vijay's presence at a car event, this is the Silverstone Lemans Cup in UK, his presence there has
03:22triggered a controversy.
03:23And while you've seen pictures, videos of the same, it's been viral across, of course, of Chief Minister Vijay and
03:29Ajit hugging it out, meeting at that particular event.
03:33It's also sparked a political fight.
03:35Why?
03:35Well, a couple of issues that the opposition is raising.
03:38One over the pictures on your screens saying, what was Trisha doing at this particular event?
03:42Wasn't this a visit by the Chief Minister to London for investment?
03:48So, where are the investors' meetings?
03:50What are the investments coming in?
03:51There are no details about any of that.
03:53So, questions being asked now about whether this is an official trip or a personal one by Chief Minister Vijay.
03:59Let's get you all those details first.
04:03Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's appearance at Michel Lerman's Cup race in the UK on Saturday has triggered
04:11a political row back home.
04:14But three days on, the opposition is questioning whether the trip was entirely official or had a personal element to
04:20it.
04:23The controversy erupted after Vijay was seen with actor Trisha at the Silverstone race.
04:30AIADMK Chief questioned the purpose of the UK visit, while the BJP raised questions over those who accompanied the Chief
04:37Minister.
04:59It's not aphoria situation.
04:59Nobody has told us, but only a couple of issues.
05:01So, they are 있지 by their names.
05:05They are all at their names.
05:07They are just saying, who are the ones who are the ones who follow the codes?
05:10They are just saying, who are the ones who follow the codes?
05:14They are all about their names.
05:18Maybe investors are the ones who follow the codes or have to follow the codes?
05:22Why are they other customers?
05:22It is not?
05:29The TVK has now hit back at the opposition.
05:32State Minister Adhavarjuna called the UK visit a landmark moment for the state,
05:37saying it offered valuable ideas to modernise Tamil Nadu's sports sector.
05:44The controversy comes just days after Vijay announced plans to build new sports infrastructure in Tamil Nadu
05:51with a clear aim of bringing international motorsport events to the state.
06:21The Silverstone visit may have triggered a political
06:25bout, but Vijay says he is chasing a different finish line, putting Tamil Nadu on the global motorsport map.
06:33With Pramod Madhav, Bureau Report, India Today.
06:45And I'm at all of the questions being raised by the opposition controversy with Chief Minister Vijay's London trip.
06:51Finally, details now emerging of the MOUs, the investors meeting that's taken place.
06:57These two MOUs have been signed by the Tamil Nadu government to expand global capability centres.
07:03And these were signed to facilitate the establishment and expansion of global capability centres in Tamil Nadu.
07:10This brings in an investment of around 1000 crores and is expected to create more than 2000 high-value jobs.
07:17This was signed, this MOU was been signed in London.
07:20As you see in those pictures there, Chief Minister Vijay is present along with the CEO of Sigma Technology Group,
07:28the CEO of, in fact, another company as well as the Managing Director of Guidance Tamil Nadu,
07:34which is in charge of bringing in investments into the state.
07:37So these are pictures that have now been put out on social media by the CMO.
07:42Pramod Madhav is joining us with more details on this.
07:44Pramod, a lot of questions really about what the Chief Minister's visit to London has looked like.
07:49In the last few days, there have been no investors meeting.
07:52This is the first one then that's happened today.
07:55Absolutely, Sakshita.
07:56And this kind of clears the air over the Chief Minister's visit to London,
08:00especially because very clearly the officials said that it is going to be a kind of a programme
08:03where the Chief Minister will attempt to garner more investment for the state of Tamil Nadu.
08:07However, the picture or the centre stage was about Ajit Kumar and Chief Minister Vijay
08:12taking part of being in that particular arena, the Le Mans Cup,
08:15and also having Trisha's pictures over there.
08:17There are quite a lot of questions for us.
08:18But right now, we have the Chief Minister actually signing two deals,
08:21one actually bringing in close to 2,000 jobs and an MOU of 11,000 crores for the state of
08:26Tamil Nadu.
08:27So this is very big news and that has been shared by the Tamil Nadu government right now, Akshita.
08:31All right.
08:32Thanks very much, Pramod, for joining us with those details.
08:34Also with us on this broadcast, we've got an Apsara Ready political commentator,
08:38previously with the AIA-DMK, S. Murali Daran, Mr. Suman S. Raman, as well as Akshat Ram.
08:44Thank you all very much for your time.
08:46Mr. Suman S. Raman, I had you earlier with me in our Tamil broadcast,
08:49where you did raise questions about what really Chief Minister Vijay was up to.
08:53We seem to have the answers, sir, with these pictures.
08:57Akshita, I think we need to wait to know more details about all of this.
09:02Ernst & Young, for instance, already has a GCC in Chennai.
09:06So is this an expansion or an additional capability center that they are establishing?
09:12We don't know because they already have a global development center,
09:16which functions as a GCC in Chennai.
09:19So we need to know more details.
09:22And in any case, the other firm with which they've signed, Motherson,
09:27the company is headquartered in Noida.
09:29So I'm still a little baffled as to why you go to the UK to sign a deal with a
09:34company
09:35which is headquartered in Noida.
09:38So I think we need to wait for the full list of MOUs to be available.
09:44And only then we will be in a position to know, you know,
09:48whether there is anything significant which is coming out of this trip.
09:51Okay.
09:52Apshita Reddy, your opening comments.
09:53You were rather critical of the Chief Minister's London visit so far,
09:57saying, you know, nothing concrete has emerged from it.
10:01See, Akshita, first of all, I think when we have Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,
10:06which India has a fantastic relationship with the UK in terms of investment relationship,
10:10the commercial relationship is almost 20.2 million pound worth.
10:17In the last 2026, if you look at the statistics,
10:19there's been a growth of 14% a year with the UK-India relationship in terms of investments.
10:24With that being the backdrop, when Tamil Nadu is the third largest exporter in India,
10:28when we have 160 Fortune 500 companies in Tamil Nadu,
10:32the scale and the backdrop becomes different.
10:34He has to emerge from more than being just a superstar CM
10:38where the commentators are calling him Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise of Ajit.
10:41I don't think that should be the defining moment.
10:43The Silverstone can be the pit stop.
10:45It can't be the defining image of this trip.
10:47I don't think anything concrete has come out of this.
10:49And also, I think opposition dragging Trisha into this is absolutely futile and below the belt
10:53because it's a personal relationship.
10:55I don't think politically we are, you know, committed to kind of commenting on this.
11:00It's absolutely ridiculous to bring Trisha into this whole argument.
11:03Tamil Nadu seeks the answer.
11:04You know, my only intervention here is on the issue of Trisha
11:07because we have reported on this several times.
11:10But there have been, yes, you know, below the belt comments being made.
11:13Trisha has been dragged unnecessarily into politics.
11:15But here I think the opposition is raising what investments are coming into the state of Tamil Nadu
11:20if this is the company you are keeping.
11:22In which case I think it's fair for the opposition to raise those questions.
11:26The company the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu keeps is his personal business.
11:30People need to know answers of what is the employment he's going to create,
11:34what are the investments that are coming in, what is the agenda of this whole trip?
11:39Because he's been there for five, I think today is the fifth day.
11:42And the only thing that's the defining image that has actually emerged
11:45is a picture of himself and Mr. Ajit Kumar.
11:47I think that, I think the Chief Minister should focus on to kind of set the protocols, right,
11:52of his communication of discussing with the people of Tamil Nadu and the media of Tamil Nadu
11:56what are the kind of investments, what are the kind of CEOs he's met.
11:59Because I think Tamil Nadu is a very large commercial relationship with UK
12:03and I think Vijay has come on a large, large enough, I wouldn't say large,
12:08but large enough public mandate and I think he has to prove himself.
12:11Okay, Akshat Ram, the reason I'm taking in all opinions before I bring in Mr. Moolidharan
12:16is because I recognize that it's almost three versus one right now
12:19where everyone's questioning what the Chief Minister is really doing on this London visit.
12:23So Akshat Ram, I'll give you time to make your opening comments as well.
12:25Look, anyone who's had questions about what really the Chief Minister has been up to,
12:30whether this is an official visit or not, now gets those answers just because of the update
12:34that's coming from the CMO that yes, he is holding meetings with investors.
12:39Okay, Akshita, firstly, I think I agree with Apshita when she said dragging Trisha into this
12:45is absolutely unnecessary and by all means it's a violence against a woman, right.
12:50She's a private citizen, she gets to have her own choice.
12:52The opposition has absolutely no, you know, ground to call anything out of this.
12:57But having established that, see, the fundamental problem with this government,
13:04which I've already mentioned time and again, is the fact that they are completely reactive to situations.
13:09Here again, they've been completely reactive to situations.
13:12It has taken them five days.
13:14Why could this schedule not be put out?
13:15If they were going to meet with investors, why could that not be established?
13:18Why could the press not get a note?
13:20Why could the press not meet with the Chief Minister afterwards?
13:23These are some fundamental questions.
13:25Why is the Industries Minister, okay, having said all of it and MOU has been signed,
13:30why is the Industries Minister right now not sitting with the members of the press taking questions on this?
13:36See, the problem is the fact that everybody is out of what is happening.
13:40If the Industries Minister and the Industries Secretary are not present at what you are calling an important signing
13:47for the Vijay government and the TVK government in Tamil Nadu...
13:51There is a representative, though, of guidance, Tamil Nadu.
13:52The managing director of guidance, Tamil Nadu, is there.
13:56But my question still remains.
13:58Why is the Industries Minister not there?
13:59Do they not have confidence in their own ministers?
14:02Are they not...
14:03Do they not think they're capable enough?
14:05See, these are fundamental questions.
14:07And why is the Chief Minister required to go when there are more pressing questions on ground?
14:12We are talking about lawn order issues.
14:14We are talking about farmers' issues.
14:15We are talking about electricity issues.
14:17These issues keep existing and they only have one answer to everything.
14:21That is to blame the DMK.
14:22That is not going to keep sailing for long.
14:25Okay.
14:26Okay.
14:26Mr. Muralithar, in your comments now, since you've heard all of them very patiently,
14:30I'm going to give you your two minutes to respond to each of them.
14:34The essential messaging here is that these kind of optics is not the best for the Chief Minister
14:40to be indulging in in London, especially because this was supposed to be an official trip
14:44focused on investments.
14:45And we're getting at least now the first glimpse of that.
14:49Yeah.
14:50Hachita, to start with, a person who's been working very hard,
14:54unlike the other Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu,
14:57who's been working 12 to 14 hours a day.
14:59So, a little bit of pleasure combined with a business trip, there's nothing wrong.
15:03That's the first answer.
15:04Second is, you know, my friend keeps asking, you know,
15:07why is he not taking the Industry Minister?
15:10Maybe she's a little immature.
15:12Let's end up.
15:12Let's accept it.
15:13Now, what's the big deal?
15:14I mean, so he thinks he can do the job better.
15:17And once the deals are signed, to follow it up and close it,
15:20that can the Industry Minister can come into that picture.
15:23Apart from that, we also discussed, yes, there is a possibility they're trying to bring in
15:27Formula Races into India, you know, formal and a disciplined manner,
15:32unlike Mr. Udeni V. Stalin, who, you know, decided to host an event in the middle of the city.
15:38Having said all that, I think what we need to understand is,
15:42you know, these are not like the erstwhile Chief Ministers,
15:44who could not speak in English, or who have never worn a suit, etc.
15:49They're looking really uncomfortable, when you take them abroad.
15:52No, but does that really matter, Mr.
15:53I'm sorry, I know.
15:55I'm should have.
15:55No, no, listen, listen, listen, listen, listen, listen.
15:57I mean, if they get the work done, they get the investments,
16:00I don't care about their wearing, how they speak.
16:02No, it matters.
16:04It matters.
16:04See, when you go to a place, you know, you have to do what Romans do in Rome.
16:08You know, when you take Chief Ministers who are not, you know, really tech-savvy,
16:13or they're not being, you know, actually socially in those kind of environment,
16:17you, you know, put them up in a suit, and, you know, it looks a little awkward.
16:20Now, here, as I kept saying, there are the deals normally done by, you know,
16:25the corporate people over a bottle of champagne or in golf courses and race courses.
16:30So, you do it a little stylishly, people will not accept,
16:33but the Gen Z does not have a problem in Tamil Nadu.
16:36It's mostly the Gen Z who voted in.
16:37They don't have a problem.
16:38But, having said all this, why is this delay?
16:41Why is this going to happen?
16:42Akshat, I think of me.
16:44Yeah, Akshat, Akshat, come in.
16:46Yes, as, again, as I said before, as the Gen Z representative on this panel,
16:50I am going to say this again.
16:52I am sorry, sir.
16:53It is not okay for you to have an elitist understanding of what our Chief Ministers are doing,
16:59what our former Chief Ministers have done.
17:01It does not matter whether they can speak English.
17:03It does not matter whether they can wear waistline, whether they want to wear a shirt.
17:06At the end of the day, if they are delivering governance, they are delivering governance.
17:10In Tamil Nadu, it's okay.
17:12In Tamil Nadu, inside the assembly, it's okay.
17:15Outside, you have to be.
17:17You have to be.
17:18No, sir.
17:18Not inside the assembly in Tamil Nadu.
17:21No, no, sir.
17:22I don't believe there is absolutely any necessity for me to dress a certain way.
17:27Okay, my track record is my governance.
17:29My track record is what we have done in the government.
17:33Any other opposition party for that matter of fact.
17:35Give them some time.
17:36I am not just saying DMK.
17:37Give them some time.
17:38Give them some time.
17:38Give them some time.
17:38Give them some time.
17:39No, sir.
17:40I just want to object to the facts that you said.
17:42You are not giving him breathing time.
17:44You just want to speculate.
17:46And you want to throw mud at him.
17:47That's not going to work.
17:48He is extremely cool.
17:50He is taking everything on his side.
17:52He is actually rubbing salt on your wound.
17:54The first two days of optics is just for you to get worked up.
17:58And start screaming your head out.
17:59And he is extremely chilled.
18:01He has not even responded to your comments.
18:03So guys, take it cool.
18:04Come on.
18:05I am very glad that sir rests.
18:09Apsara Reddy, I want you to come in on this.
18:12You know, about whether we are jumping the gun and being too critical over the chief minister.
18:17Not at all.
18:17I think nobody has thrown mud on any chief minister.
18:20We have not mentioned anything about his dressing or his language or his not being a good representative of the
18:26state.
18:27We are just asking questions as public.
18:29It is Mr. Murali Dharan who has basically commented on the English language skills of former chief ministers and the
18:34ability of the former chief.
18:35We have not flung any mud on Mr. Vijay.
18:37Also, it was Mr. Murali Dharan who said that it's a pleasure.
18:41They are the ones who are talking about the picture.
18:43I never interrupted.
18:44Can I come to you?
18:45I never interrupted.
18:47Mr. Murali Dharan just because they do it doesn't mean everyone doing it makes it right.
18:51I think please define the contours of this debate.
18:54Mr. Murali Dharan is jumping in too often.
18:56I'll let him finish.
18:57So let him understand the contours of a debate.
19:00He is the one who spoke about the CM mixing pleasure with business.
19:04He used the word pleasure.
19:05He used the word amateur minister.
19:07We didn't use the word amateur minister.
19:10We didn't use the word pleasure.
19:11He is the one who certified the trip as a pleasure trip and an amateur minister sitting in Tamil Nadu.
19:16So the TVK spokesperson or the analyst aligns with Mr. Murali Dharan.
19:20Mr. Murali Dharan stands by that.
19:23Saying there's nothing wrong with mixing business and pleasure.
19:25I am saying he has used the word.
19:28We have not blamed the chief minister going on a pleasure trip.
19:30We have not blamed the chief minister saying that he's not dressed properly.
19:34We have not said the chief minister has an amateur industries minister.
19:37It's the words of the TVK alliance spokesperson on your channel.
19:41So you have to record that.
19:42It's not us.
19:42The person representing TVK has spoken this language.
19:45You started with Trisha.
19:47Why do you have to start with Trisha?
19:49I never spoke about Trisha.
19:50I never brought up Trisha.
19:52I said Trisha should not be brought up.
19:54I said Trisha should not be brought up.
19:57Why are you bringing it up at all?
19:58She is not the topic of the discussion.
20:00Why did you bring it up at all?
20:02She is definitely not the topic of discussion.
20:03That's exactly what I said.
20:04Why did you mention anemia?
20:06Because it was there in the documents.
20:09It was there in the special video.
20:11It was there in the special video and all the videos on the channel.
20:14Okay, okay.
20:14We can't.
20:16No, one second.
20:18And he sees the visuals and he sees the opening document.
20:21He will know that Trisha is prominently on prime time now.
20:24What is he talking about?
20:25It's ridiculous.
20:25Please come to the topic.
20:27Why do you want to talk about it?
20:29Ignore it.
20:29No.
20:31Why do you want to make it obvious?
20:32Let me bring in Mr. Sumansi Raman.
20:34Let me bring in Mr. Sumansi Raman.
20:35Mr. Murali Dharan, I think the idea was for all of the panelists also to condemn.
20:40To say it's not okay for the opposition to be talking about Trisha.
20:44That was the message.
20:45But Mr. Sumansi Raman.
20:47Yeah, Akshita, two, three points.
20:49And the first point that I want to make is I think we need to study these MOUs very, very
20:54carefully.
20:54For instance, just now I've seen an announcement of Sigma Technologies, a Swedish firm, apparently investing in Chennai and Trichy.
21:05This announcement, there was an announcement by the same company in March this year, March of 2026, pretty much saying
21:12that they are investing in Chennai and Trichy.
21:14So, is this the same announcement?
21:15Is this a different announcement?
21:17So, we need to wait and see.
21:19Likewise, the agreement with ENY about a GCC being built is for a company whose name has not been disclosed
21:28yet.
21:28The third issue is the Sambardana mother-son, which is basically a company headquartered in Noida.
21:36So, I'm not blaming this government for doing it.
21:40All governments do this.
21:41Some of these are MOUs which have already been sort of in public domain or discussions have already been in
21:49public domain for several months.
21:51Some are commitments which have been made for investment.
21:55Some cases where even initial investment has made.
21:58DMK used to specialize in such stuff also.
22:00So, it's not that TVK is only government that is doing this.
22:05DMK used to do it.
22:06AIA DMK used to do it.
22:08You know, already whatever investments have already been committed will be shown at all these events as MOUs which are
22:16signed and so on.
22:17So, I'd be very interested in seeing what is the actual new investment that is going to come.
22:24And I think that that can be known only after the full list of MOUs is out with the details
22:31of those MOUs.
22:32So, obviously the question is can it be done?
22:35Could all of this have been signed in Chennai itself?
22:38Because some of these companies are already present in India.
22:41Mr. Murali Dharan, you know, can we expect 100% transparency on this?
22:46Because there hasn't been 100% transparency on the Chief Minister's schedule.
22:49We're putting that out on our screens.
22:51Day 1, day 3, we had no idea what was part of the schedule.
22:54Day 2 was the visit to Silverstone.
22:57Day 4, finally some MOUs happening.
22:59Some business taking place.
23:00Can we expect 100% transparency then?
23:03Yes, why not?
23:04Why not?
23:05Akshita, he's a responsible person.
23:07He's the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
23:09I mean, people presume that, you know, he doesn't know all these.
23:12They're trying to teach him, you know, how to behave and how to follow protocol, etc.
23:18Give him some time, you know, cut some slack.
23:20He will come back and he'll announce.
23:21And Mr. Sumat, he just agreed that, yes, these things will take time.
23:25It has to come out.
23:26And see, the same, you know, when DMK came back and did all these,
23:31nobody questioned them.
23:32It's only now people are questioning Mr. Vijay.
23:34And he will have answers.
23:35And he is going to go to the assembly.
23:36He's not going to run away from there.
23:37So, let's wait and watch what he's going to say.
23:41Okay, fair enough.
23:42Mr. Moolidharam, Mr. Subhansi, Raman, Akshat Ram and Apsara Reddy,
23:45thank you for your time.
23:46Thank you for joining us here on India Today.
23:48We're getting some sense now of really what kind of investors' meetings are taking place.
23:54Because right up until now, there were questions about whether the Chief Minister
23:57was there for a personal trip or an official trip.
24:00There was a lot of talk about investments.
24:02But the only visit that had happened, or at least high profile,
24:05was that to the Silverstone race.
24:07After that, nothing at all.
24:09Now, details coming in of the MOU, over which too, by the way, there's politics.
24:13Because the AIA DMK is questioning the MOU that's now been signed,
24:18saying the company with which Chief Minister Vijay has signed an MOU is based in Noida.
24:25And so, the AIA DMK is saying this is an absolute waste of public money.
24:34So, this is in fact a reaction that's coming from the AIA DMK.
24:38One particular investment is what the AIA DMK is calling out right now,
24:43saying that the company is based in Noida.
24:46So, what really explains the need to go all the way to London to sign this particular MOU?
24:53And you've got essentially Kovai Satyan of the AIA DMK suggesting
24:57that this is pretty much exactly what M.K. Stalin used to do,
25:01what the DMK used to do, the TVK continues right now.
25:05So, the politics continuing there over the Chief Minister's London visit,
25:09even as details are now emerging bit by bit of the MOUs that have been signed,
25:15of the meetings that have taken place in London.
25:17There's one particular MOU and company over which there's a showdown.
25:21Because the AIA DMK, several others have highlighted that this company's headquartered in Noida.
25:27Why was there a need to go ahead and go all the way to London to sign this deal?
25:32Let's listen in to what the AIA DMK said.
25:35A company which is headquartered in Noida,
25:37which was incorporated 40 years ago in 1986 with Sumitomo Corporation in Japan,
25:43Vijay goes all the way to UK and signs MOU deals with the same company seeking investments.
25:49This is nothing but the waste of public money,
25:53like how M.K. Stalin used to go all out to different countries on excursion
25:57and sign MOUs for those companies which were already present and doing operations in India.
26:03The same trade is what Mr. Vijay is following.
26:07There's nothing but excursion and fund activities at the public monies, at the taxpayers' expense.
26:16Okay, let's move on.
26:17Away from the politics, let's talk about the images that broke the internet over the weekend.
26:22And that is, of course, Vijay's motorsport push, which reunited him with Ajit Kumar.
26:27So two of the biggest superstars in Tamil Nadu meeting, hugging, and for obvious reasons,
26:33that picture going absolutely viral, literally breaking the internet in Tamil Nadu.
26:38Chief Minister Vijay waved the green flag at the iconic circuit at Silverstone with Ajit getting ready to race.
26:45So many photo ops that emerged from this meeting that you see on your screens
26:48where Chief Minister Vijay was seen running towards Ajit and giving him a warm hug.
26:53Here's how the two superstars are helping put India on the global motorsport map now.
27:15Vijay's love for motorsport has taken him straight to one of the world's most iconic racing circuits, Silverstone.
27:22And waiting for him in the paddock was an old friend, Ajit Kumar.
27:31Vijay ran towards his former Hollywood colleague before the two embraced in a warm hug.
27:37Two superstars who once shared the big screen.
27:41Now reunited trackside with Ajit in racing overalls and Vijay in his new role as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
27:54I'm extremely thankful to the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. C. Joseph Vijay,
28:01to have taken time off from his busy schedule to come and visit us at Silverstone.
28:07We've been colleagues in the film industry for the last 34 years,
28:11and I'm very happy for him that he's now the Chief Minister-elect.
28:17Vijay then soaked in the atmosphere at Silverstone and cheered Ajit on ahead of the Silverstone round of the Michelin
28:24Le Mans Cup.
28:28But Talapati was not there just to greet an old friend.
28:33Vijay was in the circuit to wave the green flag for the race.
28:40And his Silverstone outing could not have come out at a better time.
28:47Just days ago, Vijay put Tamil Nadu's own motorsport ambitions firmly in the fast lane.
28:54The Tamil Nadu CM announced plans for dedicated motorsport city in Chennai
29:00that will host races for Formula 1 to Formula 4.
29:04The racetrack will be built to international standards,
29:07while the complex will boast modern infrastructure and training facilities
29:11on par with those available to global motorsport giants.
29:15The government wants to scout young racing talent,
29:19train future drivers,
29:20create national and international level athletes,
29:23and use motorsport to give sports tourism another gear.
29:28And the announcement got Ajit revving.
29:33In a statement to India Today, Ajit thanked the Tamil Nadu chief minister
29:36for giving sports, and particularly motorsport,
29:39the much-needed attention.
29:41And in true racer style, Ajit even gave Neil Armstrong's famous words,
29:45a motorsport makeover.
29:47One small step by the Tamil Nadu government,
29:50one giant leap for motorsports in India.
29:53For Ajit, these are the moments he has been waiting for
29:58ever since switching from the acting line to the racing line.
30:02In October 2025, India Today's Akshita Nanda Gopal
30:06caught up with the actor racer at the iconic Barcelona circuit.
30:10Ajit spoke about what India needed to do
30:13to take motorsport forward in the country.
30:16It is wrong for us to expect funding from governments,
30:19be it the state government or the central government,
30:21because the leaders or the bureaucrats have a lot more,
30:26you know, important issues to deal with.
30:29But yes, what the governments can do is probably direct the corporates
30:35to support the sport.
30:38And he had a few suggestions for the government
30:41on how to bring international races to India.
30:45The government can ease the process.
30:47We might have one round of the Asian series in India,
30:52depending on where the promoters have,
30:55I mean, depending on the circuit that it shows.
30:57We have circuits in Derry, the Wood circuit.
30:59We have a circuit in Chennai.
31:01We have a racing circuit in Coimbatore.
31:03And Nareen Karthikeyan is coming up the circuit in Coimbatore again.
31:06So, and then I believe there's a circuit coming up
31:09in Bandeau, Hyderabad.
31:11So we have the circuits,
31:13but we don't have the international events,
31:16the, you know, the one leg of these events coming to India.
31:20I think it's due to the customs regulations.
31:24So if the government can kind of ease the customs and policies.
31:28Vijay with the green flag at Silverstone.
31:32Ajit behind the wheel.
31:34And for India's motorsport push,
31:36this is Lights Out and Away We Go.
31:45With Akshita Nandagopal, Bureau Report, India Today.
32:01And here's an interesting news for you coming in from Tamarnado.
32:04With the DMK Congress falling apart,
32:07there's now questions looming over whether the DMK is looking to build a third front.
32:12Kani Murray's meeting with Uddhav Thakre spiked off a lot of speculation.
32:17And ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha polls,
32:19is the DMK looking to stitch a third front involving other political parties based in other states?
32:28Kani Murray visited Mumbai, met with Uddhav Thakre,
32:31and that's what sparked all of this conversation.
32:35Here's what India Today is learning.
32:37And this is an exclusive that we're picking up,
32:39that it is the DMK, the UBT Sena,
32:42as well as a Delhi-based party that could be coming together.
32:46Talks are currently underway.
32:48This comes after the DMK cut-off ties with the Congress.
32:52Since then, there have been a lot of questions about what the DMK strategy is going to be.
32:56And while the Congress continues to maintain that they will very much be a part of the India Bloc,
33:00going by this doesn't really look likely.
33:06Definitely, Uddhav Maharashtra, he also belongs to a state party.
33:15So, this is the worry of the state parties that this delimitation may affect certain states.
33:21That is why she had held a discussion with him.
33:24Let me bring in Pramod Madhu for more details on this.
33:27Pramod, you've gotten us this exclusive news break
33:30that Kani Murray is going out to explore options, essentially.
33:34The possibility of a third front is something the DMK is looking at.
33:39What are you picking up on the support they're picking up right now?
33:42Well, very interestingly, we come to know about this particular kind of development
33:45only after Kani Murray's visit to Mumbai.
33:47But my sources also claim that even before she went to Mumbai,
33:50she had gone to Delhi and that is where certain things have developed.
33:53And very clearly, there are high chances of Kani Murray going ahead
33:56and creating this particular possibility of a third front, Akshita.
34:00And the important aspect is that it clearly looks like
34:03her being behind the driving wheel in this particular kind of development.
34:09There are chances, I repeat, that the Z-Force might also extend their support.
34:13But it looks like everything is on the pipeline as we speak right now, Akshita.
34:17Okay, so talks are underway.
34:20Too early to say if it will really materialise into anything.
34:22But the focus is on 2029.
34:25So they've got time to figure it out.
34:26Kani Murray meeting with Uddhav Thakre.
34:28There's talk of a Delhi party also that's coming on board.
34:32Will this, in fact, materialise and turn into a third front?
34:35What will that mean for the Congress?
34:37We'll track this very, very closely.
34:39Thanks Pramod for getting us that exclusive news break.
34:45Okay, let's move on and get your news now from Karnataka,
34:48where in Mysore, there's a big controversy playing out on the occasion
34:51of Vinayaka Chaturthi, of Ganesh Chaturthi.
34:54What is this?
34:54Well, essentially, a circular has been issued by the government in Karnataka
34:59that suggests that Ganesha idols cannot be taken near mosques, outside of mosques.
35:05This has triggered a big showdown with the BJP calling out the Congress over this police note
35:09and suggesting that this is, in fact, selective action against Hindus.
35:22Kanpati festivals have begun across the country.
35:31But in Karnataka, the celebrations have already triggered a political storm.
35:38In Mysore, a police inspector has allegedly warned Ganesh festival organisers
35:43against taking the procession route in front of a mosque.
35:46He allegedly warned organisers against bursting crackers in front of the mosque.
36:22The warning comes a year after communal face-off in Mandiya during Ganpati Visarjan.
36:30The BJP has slammed the police officer and attacked the state government.
36:35The Congress, however, says the police are simply doing their job maintaining law and order.
36:51The BJP is a jobless opposition.
36:55They have absolutely nothing to do.
37:00Is it a crime to ask processions to follow law and order?
37:06And that's exactly what he is told.
37:08Okay, maybe he could have told it in a better tone and tenor.
37:10But he has not used any foul language.
37:13For now, Bappas' procession is at the centre of a political tug-of-war.
37:19And the festival season in Karnataka has only just begun.
37:24With Sagairaj, Bureau Report, India Today.
37:36Ganpati Mania hits the South.
37:44Thalapati Ganesha steals the show.
37:49Thalapati Vijay's transformation into C. Joseph Vijay, the chief minister, with his iconic hands gesture.
37:56And that's what you see over here.
38:02Robotic Bappa makes a grand entry.
38:07Thousands of idols have been installed in Hyderabad.
38:10And what steals the show is Khaitaba's Bada Ganesh.
38:14The Bappa beat is back.
38:23Last time, they have decorated the entire temple with money, with the coins and currency notes.
38:30And this time, they have started with the theme of Education Ganapati.
38:35That is Vidya Ganapati in Kannada.
38:39Ganpati Bappa Moria.
38:48Let's get your breaking news that's coming in.
38:50A Kargil war veteran who was assaulted in Gurugram and was hospitalized as a result.
38:57Now, in the latest update coming in, the man behind the attack has been taken into custody, has been arrested.
39:04Identified as Deepak.
39:06He was a parking attendant who lost his school.
39:09According to the victim, group captain Amit Kumar Gupta, he was attacked with an iron rod while attempting to park
39:16his car in Gurugram.
39:18The accused, Deepak, who had in fact rained blows on the retired IAF officer, has now been taken into custody.
39:26This comes after India Today had relentlessly covered the story, demanded answers from the authorities on why the man behind
39:33this attack hasn't been taken into custody.
39:35He's finally been arrested.
39:37The accused identified as Deepak.
39:39Group captain Amit Gupta was beaten by this parking attendant, by this man on the right of his screens on
39:45September 10th.
39:46He'd suffered head injuries.
39:47He'd suffered a broken arm, a fractured arm as a result.
39:51Here's a war hero who had served during Kargil and was part of Operation Safed Sagar.
39:57They were beaten up in this manner all over a parking dispute, it seems, in Gurugram.
40:09India won the Women's Asia Cup title, but the trophy presentation has once again turned into a political standoff.
40:15Again, involving the women in blue and ACC chief, Pakistan minister Mohsin Nakwe, with India, boycotting the ceremony once again.
40:27Deepti Sharma takes out the final wicket.
40:31Champions of the DP1 Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 are ending.
40:38It was the Asia Cup final and history repeated itself in Dubai.
40:48Last year, it was Surya Kumar Yadav and the Men in Blue.
40:57This time, it was Harman Preet Kaur and the Women in Blue.
41:03India became Asia Cup champions, but when it came to the trophy presentation,
41:08Asian Cricket Council and Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Mohsin Nakwe was once again at the centre of a standoff.
41:14The presentation was delayed by nearly 90 minutes.
41:18The Indian team had made it clear they would not accept the trophy from Nakwe.
41:23The BCCI offered alternatives.
41:26Asian Cricket Council Deputy Chief Khalid Al-Zaruni could present the trophy,
41:30or a representative of the winning board could also hand it over.
41:35We made a request to all the concerned persons that keeping the tradition of Asia Cup,
41:42when in earlier times when Bangladesh won, when Sri Lanka won,
41:46our former ACC chairperson, who is the ICC chair now, Jaisa,
41:52there was a norm that the winning team will get the trophy from their country's board's head.
42:00Tradition is to be maintained. That is what our request was today also.
42:05But it was not heeded.
42:07But Nakwe refused to budge. And Team India refused to budge either.
42:12So Sri Lanka collected the runners-up prize and medals,
42:15and Nakwe left the stadium. And the trophy, nowhere to be seen.
42:21India coach Amul Mazumdar backed the BCCI decision,
42:25saying that the team stands by the call made by the board
42:27in view of the Pahalgam Terror attack and Operation Sindhul.
42:30He added that his team are the champions,
42:33and that is good enough at the end of the day.
42:36But this stand-off comes with a back story.
42:39Nakwe has previously taken positions seen as hostile to India.
42:45Last year, he had posted a video that appeared to indirectly back
42:49Pakistan-baser Haris Rauf's controversial jet-downing gesture.
42:58His messaging was seen as lending support to Pakistan's claims
43:02about shooting down Indian fighter jets, claims India has disputed.
43:09So when the same man stood at the centre of another India trophy presentation,
43:13there was already plenty of baggage.
43:16But this isn't the first time we've seen this play out.
43:21Last year, after India beat Pakistan in the men's final,
43:24the exact same stand-off unfolded.
43:27The presentation was delayed for more than an hour.
43:30India refused to take the trophy from Nakwe,
43:32and the silverware was removed from the podium.
43:36The Indian team eventually returned to the stage,
43:39but without the trophy or medals.
43:41Surya Kumar Yadav and his teammates then celebrated anyway,
43:45pretending to lift an imaginary trophy.
43:51So one year later, the champions changed.
43:54The controversy did not.
43:56Once again, India walks away with the title,
43:59and Nakwe walks away without handing over the trophy.
44:04Bureau Report, India Today.
44:08The Indian women's team snubbing Mohsin Nakwe
44:11and refusing to accept the Asia Cup trophy from him
44:13has predictably sparked mixed reactions on both sides of the border.
44:18Let's take a look at this.
44:34As soon as ACC chairman Mohsin Nakwe left the Dubai International Stadium
44:39after handing over their runners-up medals to Sri Lanka,
44:44fans knew that the match and tournament would once again be overshadowed by the gesture.
44:52India capped off a flawless Asia Cup campaign to win a record-extending eighth title,
44:58but were unable to celebrate with the trophy.
45:03And Indian fans made their displeasure at Nakwe known,
45:07serenading him with chants of trophy chor.
45:23However, anyone thinking that Nakwe's brazen show of prioritizing politics over the tournament
45:28wouldn't work well with his own public were mistaken,
45:31as he was being praised outside of the stadium by a Pakistani fan.
45:54Sporting relations and political tensions
45:56have always existed side by side
45:58and sometimes even enhanced the sporting spectacle.
46:02But India have now been denied two trophies
46:05they rightfully won due to petty politics.
46:07And there is no indication of either trophy
46:10being handed over to their rightful owners.
46:16And that's all we have time for on this broadcast
46:19on this edition of Super 6.
46:20Thanks very much for tuning in.
46:21I'll see you same time tomorrow.
