Diego Luis Santiago, Director 3 ng Department of Economy, Planning and Development Innovation
00:17Staff
00:17at ang isa sa mga award din na si Sir Rick Capistrano, CEO and Chief Scientist ng Capistrano Research and
00:26Development on Biotechnology.
01:24namin competition
01:25sa Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao at NCR.
02:02So out of 16, lima, you could buy it.
02:05And lahat na lumahok is over 500.
02:10Around this year po, I think 546 yung nag-online sign-up.
02:31yung at the startup level na meron po silang product or service na, at the very least, naka-prototype na
02:37po.
02:48As long as Filipino-owned yung enterprise or sole prop or business po naman sila pwede naman sumali.
02:54We've had students actually join.
02:56I think one of our Presidential Philippine Innovation Awardees is a law student.
02:59And one of our awardees as well is a senior citizen already po.
03:03Ayun, for everyone.
03:04Very open, very open.
03:05Very inclusive.
03:06Ito naman kay Sir Rick Capistrano.
03:08First of all, sir, congratulations po.
03:10From what we know, compact biodiesel reactor ang naging innovation niyo, sir.
03:22Hello.
03:22Hello. First of all, thanks for having me.
03:28Yes, sir. Go ahead, sir.
03:32Sir Rick?
03:34Sir Rick?
03:35Sir Rick?
03:36Okay.
04:00We are very creative and resourceful at finding solutions to our myriad problems.
04:06Pero minsan wala kasing oportunidad or platform na mag-create, to develop, to find market support,
04:20So, through the PFA, and we're very proud that it's a presidential award.
04:25Naging, through Executive Order 99 last year, from our former awards, naging presidential in nature na po siya.
04:33So, ano mga sector ang sakok nito? Multisector na ito, no?
04:37I mean, hindi lang ito basta technology.
04:40Last year, sa first time namin, it was only three categories.
04:43Three categories.
04:54Sampo.
04:54Which is?
04:55Marami po. Yung tatlo.
04:57Tapos po, security, blue economy, energy, trade industry.
05:01So, nakita po natin mas varied and unique yung mga nakilahok this year kasi meron na po silang from energy,
05:08blue economy.
05:09Right.
05:14So, we have fiscal and non-fiscal incentives.
05:17So, we have grant. It's one of the main thrusts of the project, the program, is to give grants.
05:31grant amount.
05:32Each?
05:57grant support.
05:58Doon sa 11?
05:59Opo.
06:00Because out of 16, lima. So, 11, makakatanggap ng 200,000 pesos each.
06:04Now, attorney, I'm just curious. Paano po yung follow-through natin dito?
06:18Yung maganda rin po dito, sir, is of course, the grant amount is yung siguro, kaya sosyal yung mga tao
06:23dahil maganda yung grant amount.
06:25Pero at every stage of the competition, meron high-level coaching, mentoring from business owners, academe, para tulungan sila makita.
06:43We actually require our Philippine innovators to prepare a work and financial plan as well for us to help monitor
06:55And we also match the marketing.
06:57Para masulit lalo, ano, yung beneficyo.
07:00Ito, nandiyan na yata si Sir Rick. Sir Rick, can you hear us?
07:07Sir Rick, good morning po.
07:09Yan.
07:11Nakikinig niyo po kami.
07:13Nakamute po yata inyong video.
07:19Sir Rick?
07:23Alright, medyo napuputo lang yung ating linya.
07:26Pero balik ako sa Attorney Diego.
07:28This will be an annual competition, tama po.
07:30Ano po yung dapat nating abangan na for next year?
07:33Must it just gonna be more improved?
07:36Oh, definitely.
07:36Every year naman, kahit two years lang naman po yung ating mga, yung basihan.
07:41As early as the conclusion of the Philippine Innovation Awards noong September 3 na dinalo po ng ating presidente, si
07:47President PBBM.
07:49Marami nang tumatawag sa amin, nagtatanong paano mag-apply.
07:52So, well, we are still planning how to make it better.
07:56We're trying to leverage on what we've done over the past year.
08:00Siguro po yung pagtulong rin natin, more developmental support.
08:04How to also, nakita po namin, marami nag-a-clamor ng intellectual property protection.
08:10Para protectahan yung kanilang mga product and services na innovative.
08:15But also, siguro po, we can say that tune in na lang po.
08:19We have our various social media,
08:22PhilippineOvation.devdev.gov.ph, yung ating DepDev website po, where we completely or we continually update, not just on our
08:32plans for next year and the years to come,
08:34but also, yung mga nangyari po sa mga awardees, even from last year and this year.
08:41Maganda po kasi yung mga awardees natin, even from last year.
08:45Meron na po silang mga contracts, internationally, private.
08:49All of them were able to scale up through their exposure to the Filipino religion.
09:04Do you think kaya makapagsabayan sa international level?
09:08100 percent.
09:16every single one of them is something that I feel is unique not only within the country, but even international.
09:22Yung nakita po natin, in fact, one of our PhilippineOvators now, I believe, is in Taiwan
09:26para ipakita yung kanilang...
09:28So, meron din competitions around the world for this?
09:42Yes, so definitely, definitely.
09:43So, with that, marami talagang Filipino innovators ang makikinabang sa ganitong initiative
09:48and they're gonna be so inspired to do this.
09:51So, thank you, Sir Attorney Diego Santiago at Sir Rick Capestran.
09:54Maraming salamat, Tony.
