00:00Welcome back. No trilateral peace talks are expected before Russia holds its parliamentary
00:05elections on September 20th, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, Zelensky
00:12says that Ukrainian and U.S. negotiators remain in contact with hopes of making progress on
00:19peace talks later this month. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington had
00:25developed a peace proposal and sent envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv.
00:30The envoys later said they expected another round of U.S. mediated talks to be announced soon,
00:36although no date has been confirmed. The Kremlin described its discussion with the U.S. envoys
00:41as highly useful, but gave no indication that the meetings had produced a breakthrough.
00:46Moscow has also maintained its demand for Ukraine to surrender four regions claimed by Russia
00:52and abandoned its ambition to join NATO. Ukraine has rejected those demands and says accepting
00:57them would amount to surrender.
