00:02President Trump opened the Republican midterm convention in Dallas with a $5,000 promise to
00:07Americans. Trump says every adult would get what he calls a dividend, but only if Republicans keep
00:14control of both the House and Senate in November. He didn't say how the payments would be funded or
00:19whether he would ask Congress to authorize them. Paying every American adult is estimated to cost
00:24more than $1 trillion. But he did put one other condition on the money. But the only condition
00:31on the payment of this dividend that we're going to be making, so it's $5,000 to every adult.
00:39The only caveat I have is that the dividend that we're making must be spent in the United States
00:47of America. We don't want you.
00:54We don't want you going to Canada to spend the money. We don't want you going to China,
01:00to Germany. You got to spend the money in the United States of America. In other words,
01:06if the Republicans win, if you win, we might not win.
01:10Trump also told supporters to vote in November as if he were on the ballot, saying, quote,
01:14we're running together. And one of the night's more unexpected appearances came from a Democrat.
