House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) criticizes Republicans for spending money across the country in an effort to defeat Democratic incumbents. Jeffries calls the GOP spending push fruitless as the battle for congressional seats intensifies ahead of the midterm elections. His remarks put the spotlight on campaign spending, Republican election strategy, and the growing political fight between Democrats and Republicans.

00:00We're all in to make sure that both Tom Swasey and Laura Gillen are reelected to Congress.
00:07They've both done a tremendous job representing the people of Nassau County,
00:11Long Island, as well as New York State, and fighting to address the issues that matter,
00:17which include aggressively confronting the high cost of living, driving down taxes,
00:23and making sure that people can afford to live a comfortable life.
00:30The Republicans are desperately spending money in places all across the country,
00:37including in Long Island, in a fruitless effort to try to defeat Democratic incumbents,
00:46while at the same time leaving Republican-held seats increasingly vulnerable,
00:53including in the North Country of New York State.
00:58The mismanagement that we're seeing unfold on the other side of the aisle,
01:04particularly as it relates to MAGA, Inc., perhaps should no longer surprise us,
01:12given the fact that Donald Trump's top political operatives seem more concerned with enriching
01:18themselves based on recent revelations and campaigning in Eastern Europe,
01:26as opposed to actually doing what they were at least hired to do, which is to try to hold off
01:35massive Democratic victories, which are coming on November 3rd.
01:41Do you think Blakeman Long Hill wins on Long Island?
01:44Bruce Blakeman is a right-wing political hack who is a Trump sycophant,
01:54and the people of New York State, including the people of Nassau County, I believe,
02:01will reject that because they know that Donald Trump and Republican policies in this Congress have failed them.
02:08They failed the people of New York City, they failed the people of Long Island,
02:12they failed the people of the New York City suburbs in the Hudson Valley,
02:16and they certainly have failed the people of New York State, which is one of the reasons
02:19why a rural-based, farm country-based seat in the North Country of New York is on the verge of
02:29being flipped by Blake Genderbone.
02:39Do you think that there's a potential pickup on the eastern end of Long Island in the seat where Chris
02:44Gallant is running?
02:47And then I have a question about the GOP map in Texas and Florida.
02:50Our focus right now on Long Island is to defend Tom Swasey and Laura Gillan.
02:57Do you still, on the, you had talked like at some point earlier this year about the redistricting that Republicans
03:08are trying to do,
03:08but do you think that Republican efforts to redistrict and redraw the maps in Texas and Florida are,
03:14or do you still think they're going to backfire?
03:15Yeah, the Republican efforts to redraw maps in Texas and Florida as part of their extreme scheme to rig the
03:24midterm elections have failed.
03:27Under no circumstances are Republicans going to defeat Representative Henry Cuellar and Representative Vincente Gonzalez,
03:37and under no circumstances in Texas are they going to win five seats.
03:43They'd be fortunate if they get to three, and at this point, based on what's happening in the Rio Grande
03:49Valley, that appears increasingly unlikely.
03:53At the same period of time, Democrats will pick up, thanks to Governor Newsom and members of the California delegation
03:59and the leaders throughout the state of California,
04:02and we will pick up five seats in California to offset what Republicans intended to happen in both Texas and
04:13in Florida.
04:14I will be down in Florida in a week or so, spending time with some of our incumbent members and
04:19perhaps some of our challenges.
04:22We have multiple opportunities in Florida, and the governor's race is now even close.
04:30Because even the people of Florida have now apparently concluded, notwithstanding the presence of both Donald Trump and their so
04:38-called governor,
04:41that Republican policies have failed them.
04:43Life is way too expensive in Florida in the same way that it's way too expensive all across the country
04:50as a direct result of toxic Republican policies.
04:53We're going to do much better than expected in Texas, and we're going to do much better than expected in
04:59Florida.
05:00And as a result of that, and a whole host of other things that will take place all across the
05:04country,
05:05we're going to take back control of the United States House on November 3rd.
05:09Last question.
