00:00Matt McCarthy, your thoughts?
00:01It's a narrative-changing night on Drake May.
00:03You know, assuming you weren't brave enough and heroic enough like I was this summer
00:07to tell you that the playoffs were a problem,
00:09and that is closer to the quarterback you should expect this year,
00:13a quarterback who plays really well in the regular season
00:17when it doesn't matter against bad competition,
00:18but when the competition ramps up, there are still some legitimate questions about him,
00:24and I think he proved that tenfold last night.
00:27I just want to know what the excuse is now
00:30because there were a lot of excuses made for Drake May
00:33in his playoff performance last year,
00:35be it the offensive line, which was legitimate,
00:37be it the weapons, which was legitimate, be it the weather.
00:40I guess there were a million different excuses that fans made for Drake May all summer long
00:45every time I brought up, you know, he really wasn't that good in the playoffs.
00:48What is your excuse after last night?
00:51There's none.
00:52Zero excuses for him, and it was worse than I think anything we saw last year.
00:57Over the course of his last five games, again, against good competition.
01:01Last five games, so last night, the four, three playoff games?
01:06Four playoff games.
01:07Four playoff games.
01:08Okay, so the four playoff games of last night.
01:09Yep.
01:1060% completion percentage, down from 72% in the regular season last year.
01:15He's thrown for 1,000 yards, seven touchdowns, seven interceptions,
01:19five of which have come in the fourth quarter,
01:21and seven fumbles over the course of five games.
01:25Here is the undeniable fact with Drake May.
01:27When he plays real teams and real competition, he has been mediocre, and that's a fact.
01:33The bigger the moment gets, the worse he looks.
01:35The bigger the stage, the worse he looks.
01:37The later in games you get, the worse he generally is.
01:41Those interceptions last night in the fourth quarter were ghastly.
01:44It reminded me of the interception he threw in the Super Bowl when they were only down two scores,
01:49and he just chucks it up there and gives it away.
01:52Until further notice, he is a schedule merchant, and he is Drake May.
01:56Not Drake May.
01:58Drake May.
