00:00Do you have any thoughts on this game and how it pertains to the NFC West in general, to the
00:05Niners, to the Rams?
00:06I mean, Sam Darnold, we don't know how long he's going to be out.
00:08I'm assuming he's going to miss a few weeks.
00:11Seattle did look great for basically the first half, and they looked pretty good.
00:17What were your takeaways from that and how it kind of pertains to the rest?
00:20You got one quarter, if not one half, to try to get a jump on this Mike McDonald defense because
00:29once they start making adjustments, it's all downhill.
00:33The thing about the Seahawks is even with that front four, they really don't need to blitz.
00:39They're able to generate pressures.
00:40You'll see a three tech coming across the center's face, going to the opposing guard, you know, like two gapping
00:49and doing like stunts and all different twists, all type of stuff to where the games that they're playing with
00:57the front four is so much information for that offensive line to try to like parse through.
01:04Somebody's going to make a mistake.
01:06Now, when you factor that with Devin Witherspoon blitzing, I want to say he blitzed about eight times tonight and
01:15generated one pressure.
01:17Now, that's something that you constantly have to account for.
01:21Is D-Spoon in the box?
01:23If he is, is he coming?
01:25Okay, he's not coming.
01:27He's dropping.
01:28You know, maybe he's the robber.
01:29Remember, there's so much information that they throw at you that it's like, unless you have a quarterback that's able
01:35to process quickly and the offensive coordinator is like, okay, look, I see what they're doing.
01:39This is how we want to attack it.
01:41This defense is good enough to repeat.
01:44Listen to me.
01:45And I understand there's Sam Darnold injured his hip.
01:49We don't know what's going on with that, nor do we know how long he may miss.
01:53This defense is good enough, is stout enough to hold water, to allow Sam to heal.
02:00And Drew Locke showed you today, he didn't play a ton in the preseason, but once he got his sea
02:07legs under him, he's capable of holding water.
02:11I love what I saw out of Seattle tonight because it just portends well for the NFC West.
02:19I think the NFC West is going to be one of the absolute best divisions in NFL history.
02:29I'm super excited.
02:30I'm super excited about this season.
02:33So do you think, obviously it's great to win every division or any game, but how significant would it have
02:41been to be starting 0-1 in this particular NFC West as opposed to other years?
02:47Where you don't, like, you're going to have three teams going at it all year.
02:51I think had they came out 0-1, you would have a whole, it would be time to panic, especially
02:58losing the starting quarterback.
03:00I think if they came out 0-1 with the injury to Sam Darnold, and let's say Drew Locke, he
03:07looked terrible.
03:08He looked poochies, as I like to say.
03:11That would be cause for concern, but once Drew Locke was able to figure some things out, get settled, he
03:19didn't really play during the preseason.
03:21And we know during training camp, it's not like he's getting a ton of snaps, but he has starter experience.
03:27And I love what I've been able to see tonight out of him.
03:31He's capable of holding steady, and we've seen Sam Darnold in San Francisco rehab.
03:38We've seen Matt Jones in San Francisco rehab.
03:43You're going to start seeing a lot of quarterbacks who need rehabilitation coming to the NFC West
03:49because there are offensive coordinators and head coaches that know how to maximize
03:56and get the full potential out of somebody who may have struggled elsewhere.
