00:00I want to say that this show is as much about Charlie Clive, who plays his daughter, her journey, as
00:04it is his, okay?
00:06Because we took great pains to, you know, describe a young woman who hasn't become autonomously independent yet.
00:14So even when she got to the school, she takes the time to say she got in a relationship really
00:17quick before she could develop a community.
00:20And if she's going to have a journey to finding out who she really is and being an independent woman,
00:26the best way to start is to strip her of everything and have her lose her marriage and burn her
00:31house down
00:32and just have everything that she touches be a disaster.
00:35The war and peace thing is actually kind of funny because you remember that part of that joke came from
00:39the fact that I messed up who wrote what.
00:41Yeah, we – there was a quote that I would – when I was in college that no one must
00:45be humiliated is this real Chekhov quote.
00:47And so we wanted this to be a – we wanted to use – we made him a Russian –
00:52I thought it was a Tolstoy quote.
00:54And he thought it was a Tolstoy quote.
00:55Because I'm not book smart.
00:57Matt's smart and I'm dumb.
00:58And so we decided that Steve would be that dumb and say that he had presented his whole argument based
01:05on Chekhov and that he doesn't like –
01:07and then Phil doesn't like Chekhov.
01:10That's amazing.
01:11And so that's based on our dynamic because even though Matt seems nice, he's constantly giving me crap about how
01:16much smarter he is.
01:17And the annoying thing is, is he is much smarter than I am.
01:20I'm more charming though.
01:21That was a really fun one to film because there was pyrotechnics.
01:27I'd never done anything with pyrotechnics before which is – and it makes everyone a bit giddy.
01:32And there's a lot of men around the set of course and there's fire around and all of them were
01:36so excited.
01:37Which is really funny to see a group of grown men like really eager for things to burn.
01:45And that was fun.
01:46And some of it was real and some of it wasn't.
01:47So there's lots of them being like, okay, react to your left.
01:50And I had to be like, ah.
01:51And that was – I enjoyed filming that very much.
01:54Also, the War and Peace thing is just perfect because it's such a pretentious thing to just sort of have
02:00out.
02:00And the idea of it being a first edition is – I think that Archie is a very lovable kind
02:06of like supervillain to Katie in many ways.
02:08And to burn War and Peace felt quite perfect.
