00:00For passengers using Liverpool John Lennon Airport, the latest WHICH survey provides a strong endorsement of the experience on offer.
00:09WHICH surveyed almost 6,000 passengers about their airport experiences over the previous 12 months.
00:1727 airports or terminals across the UK were assessed.
00:21Passengers were asked to rate eight areas, including customer service, check-in and security queues, cleanliness, the wait for baggage,
00:29availability of seating and food and drink.
00:31Liverpool came second overall just behind Exeter Airport and was the highest performing large UK airport in the survey.
00:40We spent a lot of time over the last two to three years spending quite a bit of money investing
00:43in new facilities, so whether it's new bars and new food areas.
00:47We've got a new lounge that went in that opened just last October.
00:51Passengers gave Liverpool a customer score of 78%.
00:55The airport also received five stars for both check-in and security queues as well as cleanliness.
01:02Which described Liverpool as the very best airport in the North West and named it a recommended provider for the
01:09fifth consecutive year.
01:11The results come as passenger numbers at the airport have continued to rise over the past 12 months,
01:16with more travellers from across the North West and North Wales choosing to fly from Liverpool.
01:22You no longer have to take your laptops out of your bag, you can leave everything in your bag,
01:27you can leave all your liquids in your toilet bags and things like that.
01:30You don't need those square little plastic see-through bags.
01:33Still a limit on the size and it does vary from one airport to another, but here you're still limited
01:38to 100 ml.
01:39But yeah, absolutely, it makes life a lot easier for passengers when they're going through security now.
01:43The airport is also an important part of the wider city region's economy and connectivity.
01:49Liverpool City Council remains a minority shareholder with a 5.8% stake following changes to the airport's ownership structure
01:57in 2025.
01:59And Carla is the majority owner, holding 94.2% of the business.
02:04The council says its shareholding reflects the airport's strategic importance to the city region's economy, connectivity and future growth.
02:13Councillor Nick Small, Liverpool City Council's Cabinet Member for Growth and Economy,
02:17said the recognition was testament to the work of everyone involved in delivering a high-quality passenger experience.
02:24He also said the airport plays a vital role in supporting Liverpool's economy,
02:28attracting visitors and connecting residents and businesses to destinations across the UK and beyond.
02:36First thing in the morning, if you're flying out, that's our busiest time of any day of the week.
02:40So always allow a little bit of exercise.
02:42And we always recommend getting here for about two to three hours at the most,
02:45and that should be plenty of time to get through.
02:47For passengers, the survey results puts the focus firmly on service, cleanliness,
02:52and ease of getting through the airport, areas that can shape the experience before a journey even begins.
