00:00and andrew uh is that true adam schefter was saying were the patriots going to pull the
00:05offer from christian gonzalez off the table how long had it been on the table were they pulling
00:09it off what are you hearing yeah look uh i have to say on the front end the last time
00:14i took an
00:14adam schefter report as for granted is completely true i talked about it on my podcast built upon
00:21it with what i knew to be true and then looked like the guy an hour or two before this
00:25got
00:25announced that said it's not close based on his information so frankly right now i'm reluctant
00:30to take what adam says around this deal and run with it um so he was wrong because he was
00:36saying
00:37adam schefter was saying that this deal wasn't going to get done well here's here's what i can tell you
00:42he said that they had never been close to offering devin witherspoon money that was on the pat mc if
00:48you show uh monday afternoon so i watched that on my flight over here and i landed you know about
00:54like
00:54five o'clock uh eastern time and so i'm like okay we got a podcast about this and i knew
00:59the hang-ups
01:00weren't guaranteed money i knew it was about cash flow and the contract language and at the same
01:04time an hour later tom kern and mbc sports boston is saying well look it sounds like they've got the
01:08apy settled years out but the thing they haven't done is the first year of money actually paid out
01:13and guaranteed as well as some other smaller particulars so he and i were like filling in
01:18pieces of a puzzle he had many more pieces for the record um and schefter was saying there is no
01:23puzzle
01:23so as far as what the deal is my understanding is that nothing really changed drastically at the
01:28last minute um and when you see some of the other reporting from other outlets yesterday when we're
01:33all following up on this it does seem that the patriots gave a little bit on the average per year
01:38the apy to 33.75 million but the guarantees which i can tell you was important the year one payout
01:45up front to gonzalez that to me is where he conceded and ultimately they get a win-win contract
01:50in my opinion but it that suggests that the offer that the patriots had on the table might have been
01:55adjusted a little bit but they didn't come up on those guarantees which again was the hang up for
02:00gonzalez who ultimately took what they did change the average per year that he will be paid 33.75 million
