00:00For the longest time, I've always thought that referees have biases towards certain kinds of conferences and certain types of
00:11teams.
00:12And I just feel like this was one of those instances where maybe that could have...
00:18And listen, it's a big school.
00:21They were playing a smaller school that probably shouldn't even have been in that situation in the first place.
00:26And they made the call based on something that if it was a regular game, if this was another game,
00:33do you think that would have happened?
00:35If this was a matchup between two FBS schools, or if this was a matchup between two Pac-12 schools,
00:41do you think they would have changed that call at the end?
00:45It was the right call.
00:47No, I understand. I'm just telling you, there's a lot of people that are upset about it on the Western
00:51Michigan side.
00:52Here's the part that I think that people need to really stop acting like.
00:57Because you almost won, you should have won.
01:00That's not how it goes.
01:02If you are out of bounds and you touch the ball, the ball's out of bounds.
01:09Like, you should have stopped the second Hail Mary.
01:12It's called the Hail Mary for a reason.
01:14Listen, if you were prepared better the second time, as opposed to thinking that you got cheated, you would have
01:22been cool.
01:23Shout out to the Big Ten, because this is what you normally don't get in these situations.
01:27Big Ten gave you nothing but transparency.
01:29They played the entire audio from the referees looking at the call frame by frame.
01:36So now you know what they said.
01:39There's no grand conspiracy.
01:40They literally went to the millisecond of the guy being out of bounds, showing you him touching the ball with
01:48a second on the clock.
01:49Now, how close to that second was to zero?
01:52A second.
01:53Because that's how seconds work.
01:55You lost the game.
01:56You came this close.
01:57You literally came within a fraction of a second of winning.
02:00Yeah.
02:01But you didn't.
02:02And that welcome to sport.
02:05Welcome to sport.
02:06You get these.
02:07You get these every so often.
02:08Where it's so hard to call.
02:10But it's not hard to call.
02:13Replay got this right.
02:14The officials got this right.
02:16And all they had to do the second time around was do the same thing they did the first time
02:20around.
02:21They didn't.
02:22And they lost the game.
02:23Now, whether Michigan should have been in that place to begin with is a completely different discussion.
02:29But the conversation we're having was, was it the right call?
02:33The answer is yes.
02:35Was it legal what happened after that?
02:38Yes.
02:38Was there any conspiracy about that afterwards?
02:41No.
02:41The kid caught the ball in the end zone.
02:44It's a touchdown.
02:45Game over.
02:46You made a good point.
02:47You made a good point.
02:48And I've said this about a lot of things, especially, I go all the way back.
02:52And this is such a weird tangent.
02:53But I go back to in 86 when the Mets won the World Series over the Red Sox.
02:59And that the ball, it was a Buckner that got by Buckner, right?
03:04That was game six, by the way.
03:07So that was game six.
03:08They had an opportunity to win in game seven.
03:11They didn't win in game seven.
03:12The Red Sox could have won in game seven.
03:14They didn't.
03:15They didn't take advantage of it.
03:16Sure, they lost that game.
03:17And that's an infamous moment.
03:19But shoot, you can go down the list of times that, yeah, something bad.
03:23Like the Cubs Marlins series, it went off of Bartman's hand.
03:28They still had so many opportunities to seal that game, and they didn't take advantage of it.
03:33Now, those are much higher stakes in the playoffs and in the World Series and all that different stuff.
03:37But my point remains is that that's on Western Michigan, man.
03:41Like you had an opportunity to bat that ball down.
03:44The stakes don't change the conversation.
03:49Regardless of what the stakes were, Bartman was not the last out.
03:52They didn't win the game on him interfering with the ball.
03:55The Red Sox didn't lose because the ball went between Bill Buckner's legs.
03:59They played a whole other game after that.
04:01There's a litany of these things where people go, well, if this would have happened and this would.
04:05But it didn't.
04:07And after, by the way, that thing did happen, you still could have won the game.
04:11But it's an easy excuse to try to blame the referees, to try to blame the conference.
04:15And, again, you don't get transparency like you got from that Big Ten officiating crew by giving you the entire
04:24conversation in its entirety of how they made the decision.
04:27I would like to see every conference do that under every questionable call, and I bet you they don't.
04:33And, you know, it's funny.
04:35Everybody mentions, I think it was first used in the NBA in the first round of the playoffs in 2025
04:43when it was Lakers-Timberwolves.
04:45And they used that, like, people call it the AC-130 cam.
04:49That was just like this sky cam that zoomed in exactly.
04:53And it was like a LeBron out-of-bounds call.
04:56And it was like, this is the first time I've ever seen that.
04:58But the thing is, they got the call right.
05:01It worked so well.
05:03And they used a specific one.
05:05They actually released exactly what the NCAA looked at.
05:09Like you said, the audio, all that different stuff.
05:12They actually released that to the public so we could see their explanation and what they saw.
05:18And everything lined up.
05:19Now, you may say, well, why are you bringing that out now?
05:22You don't bring that out for a regular call.
05:23Well, listen, I'm glad they did because it showed that it was the right call.
05:27I guess my, when people want to go back and forth with this, I guess my question to them
05:33is, do you want to get the call right or not?
05:35Because if the shoe was on the other foot and Western Michigan wanted another play, or
05:41whatever it was, they wanted another play, and they were entitled to another play and didn't
05:48give it to Michigan, or they didn't get it, then what's the conversation?
05:52Thank you, sir.
