Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that its ongoing sit-ins will continue while negotiations with the government also move forward.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said the government had asked the party to postpone the protests, but the party decided to continue its sit-ins alongside negotiations.
A technical committee has also been formed to hold talks with the government and present proposals aimed at providing relief to the public.
Hafiz Naeem demanded a reduction in petroleum prices, the removal of petroleum levy and reducing the price of roti to Rs10.
He said the protests, which began in one city, have now expanded to 15 to 20 cities, with the main focus being inflation and the everyday problems faced by the public.
