What did an ordinary Roman soldier actually do when he wasn't fighting?

Roman military life involved far more than battles. Soldiers trained, marched, guarded forts, maintained equipment and performed practical camp duties such as construction, baking and collecting fuel.

Archaeological evidence from Vindolanda and other Roman forts also reveals the personal side of military life: soldiers could visit bathhouses, play games, eat snacks and live within busy military communities.

This Empire Echo reconstruction follows one Roman legionary from dawn to night, using premium 3D CGI, realistic Roman environments, cinematic glowing lighting, volumetric beams, fire and steam simulations, dynamic camera movement, detailed armor and immersive sound design.
