A major political development in Islamabad as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has reportedly decided to oppose the government’s proposed amendment bill related to the Islamabad local government system.
According to DQ News, the government is expected to seek approval of the bill in the standing committee, while the existing ordinance is set to expire on September 5.
Sources say talks between PPP and PTI are also underway, with the possibility that both parties could jointly oppose the bill in Parliament.
If the bill is not passed by both houses by September 5, the Election Commission could potentially order local government elections based on the previous delimitations.
