Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeted the Shiromani Akali Dal following the alliance between the Student Organisation of India (SOI) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the Punjab University elections. Addressing a rally in Mohali, Chief Minister Mann stated that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has entered Punjab University through the student wing alliance and alleged that the Akali Dal is actively seeking a tie-up with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The political developments come amid speculation regarding potential alliances ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

00:00Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan, who's attacked Akali over university polls.
00:05Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan attacks the SOI ABBP alliance in Punjab university polls.
00:11Chief Minister Maan says RSS has entered Punjab university.
00:15Akali Dal is begging BJP for alliance, is what Bhagwant Maan has to say.
00:20Now, Shiromani Akali Dal is begging for an alliance with the BJP.
00:24They are saying, give many as many seats as you want.
00:28You become bigger brother.
00:31They have done alliance in the university.
00:32RSS has come in Punjab university.
00:35The SOI is supported.
00:36Akali Dal is supported.
00:38They have nothing to do with Punjab.
00:39They just want their chair.
00:41Notably, Chief Minister Maan made these statements while addressing a rally at Mohali is what we are given to understand.
00:47In fact, over the last couple of weeks, viewers, if you take a look at the incidents that have been
00:51taking over,
00:52especially the student political arena in Punjab itself, it's been quite a heated space.
00:57We know the next year itself, the state goes into elections.
01:01So, it's almost a pitch of sorts that has been heated up already with campaigns already getting heated up at
01:09the student polls level.
01:10But then, it also sees its extension and continuation onto the political ground as well when we speak of the
01:16elections of 2027.
01:18At this given point, Aseem Bassi joins us on the broadcast with more details.
01:23Aseem, a very good morning to you.
01:25What exactly has gone down here?
01:26The allegations being raised by the Chief Minister over the polls and the new alliance that's come about?
01:36Well, Shuromani Akali Dal and BJP are not in alliance at this time in Punjab.
01:42But as far as the Punjab University elections are concerned, the SOI, the student organization of Akali Dal,
01:49they gave support to the ABVP.
01:51And in the end, the ABVP candidate won.
01:54The alliance, in a way, they won.
01:56It was in university politics.
01:57But now, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwan Singh Maan has clearly said that.
02:01He said that Shuromani Akali Dal is begging for an alliance with the BJP.
02:04And he also said that Shuromani Akali Dal's SOI, they supported ABVP and they ensured that the RSS enters the
02:14Punjab University.
02:15So he's taken a jibe at Akali Dal that they are begging for the alliance with the BJP.
02:20Although the Akali Dal BJP were in alliance in the past, but in around 2020, the alliance broke because of
02:26the farm issues.
02:27But now, again, there are speculations about the Shuromani Akali Dal BJP alliance in Punjab before the 2027 elections.
02:33Although the BJP top leadership has been consistently saying that they will not get into alliance,
02:37they will contest all 117 seats in Punjab.
02:41But Shuromani Akali Dal has repeatedly shown hints and inclinations of alliance.
02:46So, I mean, all this happening in the university also, the alliance coming up,
02:52the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwan Singh Maan has attacked the Shuromani Akali Dal on this issue.
02:57Right, Rasim. Thank you for bringing us all of those details.
